It may or may not make a difference, but nothing ventured, nothing gained. If nothing else, at least the 7 people I can directly influence will not buy their product. If that's ditto for 20 other people who read this thread, that's 140 lost sales. A drop of water in a bucket for them? Maybe. But if it's more than 20 people on this thread, they could be losing thousands of sales, and even if it's not enough to put them under, it's still an impact.

I feel better about myself for never buying from them again, and that's plenty. ;)

what a crock of shit that is. f**k em, i'm buying mogami cables from now on ;)

I see they're also going after my favorite beverage of choice, Monster Energy...

You know, I've been using Monster Cables for years and have honestly really liked them (some custom-made Monster guitar cables I wired up back in the mid-80's are still working perfectly after all these years).....but now, f**k 'em. I'll not be buying any more of their products.

they don't work

About two years ago with the www.madmartian.com lawsuit, there was a similar uproar in audio newsgroups against monster cable.

I was one of those who wrote monster an email at that time telling them of my intent to boycott their products. I got a letter back from them saying to the effect that they were withdrawing their lawsuit in response to the public outcry.

Apparently they feel that sufficient time has passed for the public to forget, and for them to resume their legal extortion practices.

I haven't read through this whole thread, so someone may have suggested this already but:

I think that the only way that this community is going to have an impact is for people to create "Boycott Monster Cable" icons (similar to "Get Firefox") and post them on our websites and blogs with a link to relevant info (this thread, Denver Post etc.).

Once that starts appearing all over the internet audio community, it will have an impact.

$$ talks.

TC

I haven't read all this, but here's an idea that could make a difference:

Yesterday I got a Radio Shack ad in the mail; it featured Monster cables. I think if you protest straight to Radio Shck and others who sell Monster, that will have a real impact, even more than going only to Monster.
