i guess i opened a thread on a very similar topic, but long time ago now ( spring-early summer 2002 ) ...out of the database actually,. i'm afraid...crazed one wrote:Didn't you post this same exact thread a while ago? Based on the idea of taking a wave, reversing it, and applying an effect, say reverb, then reversing back once more. This gives the effect of the reverb fading into the sample, as opposed to out. This is a nice effect for drum hits, but works for lots of ideas...
So, would it be possible to base an effect on such a thing? Such that the effect would take in sound into a buffer (duration set by one of the effect's parameters). The VST would reverse what's in the buffer. Then, have one or more (probably internal, but possibly external VST) effects applied to the buffer. Buffer is reversed again, and ultimately the buffer is played, with all of the effects applied in reverse.
This would require that the buffer would be played "some time later" after the original source (be it wave or audio input). So the user would need to know where in their sequence to apply/use the effect, since there's a necessary delay (the buffer size in seconds) before the input could be reversed (well, this may only be true for live input into the effect. may not be true for an existing wave/sample file).
Anyway, one of those thoughts you have before completely waking up for the day. Make any sense?
I'm experiencing deja vu!
This is a cool sounding effect that I would like to have as well. Of course this can all done manually but a plug to make it all a quicker process would be more than welcome by me.
Good idea, again.
