Wow! I've been lurking on this thread taking in all the discussion. I have a Roland JV-1080 and would absolutely love to have a VST version I can easily take with me. I play live two to three times a month. I haven't made the jump to VST because I haven't been 100% assured I can trust it.IvyBirds wrote: Sat Nov 23, 2024 9:48 pm As is it makes you phone home after a certain date and time that is a mystery, and then if you do at any point after that time you are good until the next mystery date and time comes around
I absolutely can not have a synth that won't work when I arrive. I've already been concerned hearing about issues with RC not always working, but I definitely can't have a mystery time when it calls home. Are you sure it doesn't call home everytime you use it? And then it restarts the 30 day countdown again? I don't have an issue with it needing to call home, but I do if it's only at some unknown time that could prevent me from having access during a live set.

I thought auto-sampling could also be done using HALion...I think there is a video showing how to set it up, if I could just find it again.

HALion which I also own is more of an assisted sampler than an autosampler. It's very hands on. You use it along with MIDI to sample other things. It uses audio thresholds and MIDI note on and note off messages to start and stop the recorder and then you get a bunch of other controls to turn that into a format that creates the HALion preset. It's actually a pretty fantastic feature and is very hands on. Especially if you end goal is to take the samples and the HALion sound design engine and change them into something else rather than just a sample
With Sample Robot it's an Automated process. You point Sample Robot to the preset you want on the plugin you want, set how many samples you want and how many notes to sample and what to map them to (and you can set that all up as a preset) and then hit a button and it does everything automatically. If the plugin in question can use MIDI to change banks and presets you can set sample up and get it running and go to bed then when you wake up it's all done, and you have dozens even hundreds of patches all formatted perfectly and ready to load into your Montage. It's more of a tool for hey I have this sound in my plugin and I want it to sound exactly the same in my Montage
Bringing it back on topic, Zenology Pro would be awesome if it allowed you to import samples, or even the XV5080 just like you could on the hardware
Imagine Zenology with either an Autosampler or a hands on Semi-Automatic sampler (and no RCM of course) that along with all of Eric's samples already in there would be awesome

yeah, imagine Zenology with combination mode, layer mode, and exportable/importable wavs. oh well. i think that's what they kinda do with galaxasss. btw, did anyone ever get earth piano to sound decent? didn't work at any velocity curve or with any of the three midi controllers i've got.

When Zenology first came out I thought it would do that and continue to grow and expand. Not just import samples but also WavetablesN 4 LIFE wrote: Wed Nov 27, 2024 5:21 am yeah, imagine Zenology with combination mode, layer mode, and exportable/importable wavs.
Having a four partial system a Wave Table Engine, a VA engine with waves from Rolands legacy, a sampling engine all the fantastic Eric Persing samples, user samples, and legacy Roland filter models could have developed into something that could challenge Omnisphere, HALion, Pigments etc

...Just to be clear: "increasing the number of instruments this year" means one instrument (Earth Piano) and one effect (Space Echo)?Jon at Roland wrote: Tue Jun 25, 2024 9:10 pm Hey y'all! Maybe I wasn't clear, but Roland Cloud has no plans of shutting down and is in no risk of shutting down. We are in fact increasing the number of instruments and plug-ins we will have this year. Apologize for any issues with connectivity or authorization, they are not an indication of RCM shutting down. We are currently working to solve these issues so please report them if you are still experiencing them.
Thanks!
I suppose that is technically increasing the number, but I admit it does not meet my expectations.

Hey Examigan, as far as I know the price of the JUPITER-8 has been $199 for a while now and the Model Expansion is $149 but maybe I'm missing something. Last year when we updated the JUPITER-8 to v2 we did not increase the price of our membership and im pretty sure we didn't increase the price of the Lifetime Key either.Examigan wrote: Sat Nov 23, 2024 11:07 pm I just noticed the Jupiter 8 is $199 now? I thought it was around $149, but maybe they added extra patch banks if you buy it these days (?)...not sure. Seems too expensive, so it would have to be a P4L deal for me to even think of getting it.
The RC Total J-8 has a bunch of banks and it's the same price as the standard J-8.

Which reminds me, Play 4 Life is currently active if anyone is interested!

Hey Introspective. Sorry it's not up to your expectations. Sometimes releases take longer than planned. This is one reason why we don't give definitive release dates.Introspective wrote: Wed Nov 27, 2024 2:37 pm ...Just to be clear: "increasing the number of instruments this year" means one instrument (Earth Piano) and one effect (Space Echo)?

Either way, I'm glad we were able to get a couple things out so far this year and looking forward to more in the future.

Understandable, but there are missing multis, missing user banks, missing expansions, arpeggiators that don't allow you to change the speed, complex envelopes with apparent rounding problems...
There's a whole lot Roland could do to make the current RC experience better, starting from the manager app that still disconnects me for no reason even though I'm constantly online.

Marco, just dropping by.

I think the price may have increased from $149 after the v2 update occured.Jon at Roland wrote: Wed Nov 27, 2024 9:09 pmHey Examigan, as far as I know the price of the JUPITER-8 has been $199 for a while now and the Model Expansion is $149 but maybe I'm missing something. EDIT: I just found it for $149 on Guitar Center's website and it's not a sale price.

...Are you allowed to say how many Roland Cloud products you are aware of in the works that are taking longer than expected?
