That worked!

I had actually thought of that, and I thought that I had changed the directory name of the last IR file I had used, but it seems that my last IR file was not in the directory I thought it was. I changed the names of several audio directories, just to make sure I got the right one, and then I was able to load Convo Boy again. :hyper:

Is it possible for Convo Boy to store some sort of variable that indicates that the last accessed IR file was loaded without any problems? That way, if you crashed the program with a bad file, it would know not to try to reload it in that case. (It should still default to the same directory the file is located in, but just not load an actual file.) Just before loading a file, the variable would be set to "0" and saved, then after a successful file load, the variable could be set to "1" and saved. A similar thing should be done before GUI launch. Store a "0", and then after a successful GUI launch, store a "1". The next time you attempt to run Convo Boy, it would know that the last attempted GUI launch failed, and it would not reload the last IR file as a safeguard. Popping up a dialog box or something might also be useful in the event of a file load failure.

Wouldn't something like that work?

You are apparently using Convo Boy as a send effect. In this case you will hear the current signal and the delayed signal together. Due to the latency of the plug-in, the mix will sound phased. This is unavoidable. Try it with any other convolution reverb and you will probably hear the same thing or worse.
wrong, it's the reason why i ask you the latency of your plug-in.
In Orion, i can delay every chanel to match the latency of Convo Boy on the send return chanel.
You can do the same thing in other host by using Voxengo Sample Delay or Voxengo Audio Delay.
So with the low latency of Convo Boy i can almost play my keyboard with your plugin on a send :hihi:
and you are right SIR is worst (92.8ms vs 203.17ms at 44.1)

I have just tried Convo Boy 1.03.

In minihost v1.09 but all I have is a plain box the same size as the GUI but without any controls/text.

In EnergyXT (latest beta) I get "Exception at 00DE9BBA" when I double click on the icon after loading it in.

In FLStudio 5.01 I get the error "There was a fatal error loading the plugin's editor"

In Tracktion v1.6.0.1 I get the same as minihost which is that the plugin seems to load but there is no interface there at all.
I just tried v1.03h and had the same results.

These are the symptoms that I just cleared up by renaming the folder where I was keeping my IR files. It seems there was a problem with one of the IR files I was using and Convo Boy was trying to automatically reload it, but kept crashing on the bad (or incompatible?) IR file. I would definitely suggest renaming the folder where the recently used IR files reside. Just in case you have your IR files in the same folder as the Convo Boy plugin, you might want to move the IR files to another directory. The objective is to hide the file from Convo Boy.

It worked for me, maybe it will for you also?

Good suggestion. I already check the validity of the file being loaded but I don't know if it crashes the plug. I could store the last state of the GUI and branch depending on the result next time it is loaded.

Note: I have implemented the usual chunk related autoload of last preset which is basic functionality in Cubase and I test to see if setchunk was called, if not, I then try and load the last file that was loaded. This was meant to work in hosts that don't support chunks.

I'll see what I can do for the next update.

O.K. Good!

FYI, I am working on an update to the 'save enabled' version that will allow you to choose between a low latency (down to 23 ms) or lower CPU usage. I will display the latency, in ms, in the plug. That way you can set up your host more easily.

With the 23 ms latency, I expect it will sound like real-time on your setup.

I can still hear phasing when using CONVOBOY as a channel insert and using something like a Preamp IR as opposed to a reverb IR. Again, this is using SONAR4 and this is with any humidity setting less than 100%.

BC, you should use Preamp IR's 100% wet, otherwise they introduce pre-delay.

Great plugin!

If you are using an IR that contains a delay at the start then you will hear a delay between wet and dry signals.

Try using the 'Scroll' slider to remove the pre-delay.

A-ha! I think that is the problem - thanks so much!

Me too, love Vox P space... But do not need so many chanels... Will be nice just to have 2 channels at a lesser price.. Maybe Convo Boy is the answer (with lower latency)

I saw your post but didn't think it applied to me. I have not even seen the GUI in any of the hosts I use so I have not directed it to a directory at all. So I wouldn't know what to rename or where to try moving IRs to. I have tried loading the .dll from the vst plugin folder and from a directory within the vst folder. I have also tried dragging it to eXT and minihost from a number of other folder locations with the same result.

I've loaded Convo Boy in all 3 of the hosts Morelia has mentioned, and while I didn't really mess around with it all that much (not at all in MiniHost), the GUIs at least appeared. I can't help but suspect that it's something in the system-- and not Convo Boy itself-- that's mucking things up.
