Ableton Live 12 only uses half the P-cores in my M1 MBA

This is quite puzzling to me. I'm aware that Live does not use the E-cores. However, out of the 4 P-cores, only 2 were used while the project playback was stuttering. While these 2 cores were maxed out, the other 2 were idle. What gives? Is this from thermal throttling? :?
