How can I merge two tracks into one?

Hi,

I regularly have midi files for piano pieces wherein the left hand and the right hand are on separate midi tracks. I would like to merge the two midi tracks into a single track such that the whole piano part is in a single midi track.

How can I do this?

I tried copying and pasting all phases of the two tracks into a new track but somehow the phrases get shifted and all the harmony is lost.

Background:
I would like to transform piano sheet music into RC midi tracks. With musescore I can scan the pdf piano sheet music and then export the scanned sheet music into midi. But the bass clef and the treble clef are written into separate midi files. I also tried merging the files using Ableton, but I just cannot achieve it.

Any other suggestions about how I can merge the two piano tracks into a single one? Maybe another tool?

Thanks for your help

Jens

use track note forwarding as a work around.. just search it.. consider 3 tracks, left hand track, right hand track and the third the target track.. just forward the left and right to the target..
track forwarding should be in the manual for more info.. (actually it may not be in the manual yet..)
But it should be the last tab in the track inspector..

This is a good solution, but it still doesn't solve the problem.) After I assigned two tracks to the third track, I can't do anything with them.. It's impossible to render on the third track and somehow glue these phrases together for further use as a single new track (these are just assignments), so it's impossible to fully glue two tracks into a third yet.

works for me.. I was able to export the target as a midi file, with both the midi from the source tracks. When I imported that track, it had all the midi..

I am also able to glue the phrases too.. maybe a mac bug?

Yes, you are right, it works)

Thanks a lot BluGenes.

I discovered that I still had an old version of RC without the note forwarding. RC is so incredibly powerful. I think I have to spend some more time to fully appreciate its potential.

It works now. It´s so great. I loaded a Jazz piano version of Moon River into RC. The chords were immediately detected and by the note coloring I can immediately see what is happening harmonically.

Thanks, BluGenes and lulukom, for helping me with the replies!
