I would also like a robot band. That's also probably out of my price range. As well as my space availability I've already filled my studio back up with hardware gadgets that I probably don't need.

Recording a drum kit is a large 'garage' or loading dock.
I read somewhere that Bruce Fairburn often recorded drums this way, in a loading dock of Little Mountain Sound.
