Hi,
I'm looking for a reliable USB hub, ~7 ports, preferably with easy under table mounting. I find that the USB hub market is full of random OEM-stuff, so it's very hard to know what is good.

Does anyone have some experience on this to share?

I've been using one from D-Link for several years with no problems..don't know about mounting, it lays on the floor among all the other cables

Same ^^^ D-Link DUB-H7 USB 2.0 7-port Hub. No problems 24/7 for years.
I'm not a musician, but I've designed sounds that others use to make music. http://soundcloud.com/obsidiananvil

I got an earlier version of this one. The only downside of the one i have is that the connection to the computer is usb mini b, which is not the most robust option. There is a better option for much more money:

Just USB, nice if it can bus-power. It's for connecting a bunch of synths for each table. Not sure if USB3.0 will be a benefit here. Does an USB3.0 hub even work in super-speed mode if some of the ports have USB2.0 devices connected to it?

Market turnover is too fast, everything I verified as working well isn't available anymore.

If you find something good buy more of it while you can.

Good tip, that's my experience as well.

We had a smaller version of this one at work somewhere, and that had a bad connection somewhere so it would randomly stop working. Could be that it was just abused by someone earlier. That brand seems to have been around for a while at least.

I would not buy anything with mini USB plug.

mini to usb A. Lots of hubs still use that, or micro usb. Anyway, there are few hubs that can be screwed to a surface, so limited choice.

You can look in to Lenovo 7 in 1 USB C hub. Has USB A ports, Ethernet, HDMI, SD card readers and type C.

Nope. You will need a MTT usb hub for that.
