Midi controller problem with Live 4

I'm using my K5000S as a controller through an EMU1212, which worked fine the first few times but then all of a suddon Live 4 gives me an error when I try to select that midi device as remote controller in the midi options
I get "Failed to open MIDI Device "E-DSP MIDI Port [BC00]"
so I can't use my keyboard as controller anymore in Live
any ideas anyone? (btw, I don't have any virtual ports installed and no USB, just midi straight into the 1212)
I posted this on the Live forum as well but that forum is as dead as leg warmers

This doens'tlook like a Live problem to me. It looks rather that there is a problem with the driver of your MIDI port.
Did you try to open that MIDI device in another program?

Could you try to select another MIDI device, let live play trough it and then reselect the first ?

it's a mystery..
I switched the local midi off in my K5000
I've checked everything, the track has the right input setup, the monitor button is on, so is the record arm button.. so the problem is definitely not there
it just doesn't like the device as a remote control, although it worked fine the first few times
is there a configuration file that might be f**ked up? or does it need some sort of midi template for my K5000.. whatever, I have no idea.. the manual doesn't mention anything about it
