re: Reason 13.1: why no separate tags for instruments and effects?
Since you can't reorder them, you get a long list of tags with instruments and fx all mixed up sorted alphabetically...

Ok great, I feel I tried that but I will give it another go, maybe I messed it up.liquidsound wrote: ↑Wed Dec 04, 2024 9:04 amDoes Shift+Drag works for you?Jac459 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 04, 2024 7:20 am One question for the Reason experts.
I am trying to force myself to use the RRP but having lost habits to use Reason, I have a basic usability issue.
I am sound designing with a few synths inside a combinator, all plugged onto a mixer. After the mixer I have a few basic effects (EQ, compressor, reverb), nothing fancy. Normally when I am doing that, I like to try to change the order of the effects.
Inside Bitwig I would just drag and drop quickly my VST on the left or on the right of the signal chain.
In the rack, of course when I move the effects, it doesn't change the wiring (which is expected). But then if I want to A/B different setups, each time, I have to unwire and rewire all plug ins.
Is there a faster way to do ? I tried the automatic wiring but it isn't working well.
A+B+C, Moving C to A will result in C+A+B so you need to repeat and move A to have C+B+A
Thanks .

Reason remains and will remain a very interesting ecosystem for a while. A lot of rack extensions are really awesome (Antidote !) and I like the fact that the workflow is very different, it unlocked creativity.
But.
It is a shame to see it progress so slow now compare to the competition.

Beside being slow, it’s almost irrelevant to the Rack users!Jac459 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2024 1:22 amFL? I used the 13 demo for about a week trying to justify the discounted upgrade fee and then I woke up all sweaty from the bad dream

Viking VK-2, Expanse, Zero Hybrid, Algoritm, Objekt, Friktion.
There's another side to this. When I used Reaper (for over a decade), which is often touted as the example of forward development, I often felt I'd spend my time more with keeping up with the update changes and additions, than making music. It is a shame to see it progress so slow now compare to the competition.

But even as RRP, is is good but not flawless. It isn't MPE for example. I know how much it matters for you.
Also with 13 I was expecting a kick ass synth. Not a very vanilla VA...

Zero hybrid.... Everytime I use it, I slap myself for not using it more. The workflows is so-so but how the hell did they manage to make it sound so awesome? It is a Spire kind of synth for me. It has a "je ne sais quoi" that really make it awesomecrimsonwarlock wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2024 1:47 amViking VK-2, Expanse, Zero Hybrid, Algoritm, Objekt, Friktion.

Objekt and friktion are no brainers.
Expanse of course is good...
Algorithm, I love the workflow, less the sound...
Viking vk2 is the one you have to explain to me. It sounds meh for me and the workflow is even more meh. What am I missing?

So far, it is the only synth that I get the Vox Humana sound from that sounds EXACTLY like Gary Numan used it on Are Friends Electric
Agreed on workflow, it isn't the simplest synth to work with. As for sound, I like that it can get a bit more aggressive than the usual suspects for Moog-sounds. Some people say it sounds a bit like a Virus... I don't know about that, but I like it.Viking vk2 is the one you have to explain to me. It sounds meh for me and the workflow is even more meh. As for Virus-like sounds, of course, Antidote was inspired by that (the name is a dead giveaway).

Ok, let me finish my sentence then : "Algorithm, I love the workflow, less the sound... that I manage to get with it". I am not good at FM synthesis...crimsonwarlock wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2024 3:37 amSo far, it is the only synth that I get the Vox Humana sound from that sounds EXACTLY like Gary Numan used it on Are Friends Electric

I think for VK-2 my main problem is I am much more an oberheim kind of guy than Moog. I like my Legend HZ because of its flexibility but before, I was using much more obsession than the legend (both from Synapse and both available as RE).
For Antidote, the name may be a giveaway but I didn't know, thanks for enlightening me .
Any idea of what happened to Blamesoft ?
