I wouldn't sell it anyways, but still........... :?
wow! Didn't know Arturia did this.
That's horrible!

They listed it as a crossgrade from my V Collection 8, instead of an upgrade from FX Collection 2.

I'm not really upset about it, just posted it as something to watch for.

It's not completely *transparent* (it sort of puts the low end back a tiny bit) but it takes a proper beating to make it pump or distort, and the workflow has put all contenders behind.
I took it for a spin yesterday and like it so far, but I find myself chasing my tail when trying to hit a LUFS target. I push gain, which makes me drop the limiter, which makes me drop the limiter, and I go around in circles. What's your workflow here? Do you have a target "usual" peak reduction for the limiter you prefer?

I'll freely admit that I'm just a hobbyist and don't really know what the hell I am doing, so just trying to get some tips. Thanks :)

Ah got it. Yeah, good to know.

I just checked again after logging in and it shows FX2 as a crossgrade (which it wasn't) and FX5 is normal.
It does say that FX2 can't be sold separately.

Edit - Never mind. I think it just means that when you update/upgrade/crossgrade, you can't sell the previous version. But I'm not sure that I understand their system.

i bought it for the 50 dollar deal after buying V collection. pleased. the reverbs/delays/modulator FX are all pretty obviously very good.

the filters are very good. in fact, everything is.

what I really wanted to know was the quality of the compressors and other mix focused fx since theyre half of what you get. i think the compressors are almost UAD tier but less CPU intensive (I think). they are very characterful and vintage and are definitely my new go-tos for the middle point between TrackComp (low CPU) and UAD compressors (high CPU)

Tube Culture (subtle and in parallel) is on every bass track of mine, it adds so much depth I can’t find anywhere else.
Tube Culture is one of the best saturation/distortion plugs I own now.

What FX collection does better than almost anything else is that it seems pretty explicitly focused around emulation of hardware and capturing the character of physical hardware, rather than just being digital DSP (like Ohmicide for example).

I wouldn't use the Arturia FX in every situation but when I want to go for that feeling of slightly overdriven, slightly noisy vintage hardware character I do think it's the best stuff to go to.

That said, on the track I made yesterday I had these FX all across a big track and the CPU was giving me grief by the end. Could swear I smelled my computer burning. But we made it through in the end.

How come? You have both very creative plugins and also excellent emulation of classics in this pack.
I love the ms-20, it sounds awesome. I bought the pack eyes closed at 69.

This thread started so pessimistic

It's a great bundle. They keep adding to it 3 plugins a year. I admit that some of them can do with a bit of a UI update to bring it inline with some of their most contemporary designs.

Pretty sure that when the thread started, the buy-in price was $499.
Right now, there's a half price sale for $249.
But a lot of people already have something else from Arturia, and that can bring the price way down.

I wasn't real interested in it until this sale, when I saw that I could get FX5 for $49.
At that price, it was a no-brainer for me.

I coughed up 50 bucks for 34 plugins. If 2 of them are useful it shall be a fine deal. I am slightly interested in motion FX and the granular thing. The mix FX could be fun. I'm generally good on distortions but maybe the arturia ones are super cool.
Don't F**K with Mr. Zero.

I didn't own an older FX collection but they offered v5 to me for 49 dollars. I'm glad I dismissed the 99 dollar offers in the past year.
