Just checking is there anyone in the music industry currently able to Sync 2 DAWs ( via MIDI ) ?

..not Reaper ( bc everyone seems to be able to sync that )
FL STUDIO, BITWIG, RENOISE, CUBASE...
Basically
All those used to be 'MIDI Sync-able'
And i would just like to compose with 2 DAW's in Sync
And no one seems to know how to do it in 2024
Criteria:
Send/Sync - START/STOP
Send/Sync - Song Position Pointers

It's just basic MIDI clock isn't it? I thought all daws have this by now. Renoise has it for sure under preferences/MIDI
Edit: i think you would need a MIDI timecode box to sync them up (so each running on a separate computer).

I've done it with MTC(midi time code).
- I did with Jammer Pro and Sonar almost 20 years ago
- Jammer was midi only and did arrangements and such and did audio in Sonar
I also did with a Fostex hdd porta and computer to do midi on computer.
So one able to send mtc(master) and one able to sync to it(slave).
- usually you have slave with a dialog waiting for sync from master
- just check specs for mtc on the daws
Midi clock is useless for this purpose. It's based on a local clock on each participant, and will differ over time.

I used a couple of midi interfaces and used MTC to lock Cubase and Reason together (on different machines).
But that was many moons ago.

Same computer, or networked?

I appreciate you attempting to assist, however i have seen all of the videos and none of those demonstrate full functionality, that is repeatable on 2024...VOODOO U wrote: Wed Dec 04, 2024 6:03 am I just checked Youtube and there's plenty doing it nowadays. I forgot that you could use an audio interface with MIDI to do MIDI clock sync.
This is a basic feature since 80's that everyone and everybody remembers working ( for a long time )
And right now, i would just like to know if these features even work anymore - bc i have tested:
FL Studio <> Cubase
Cubase <> Bitwig
Bitwig <> Renoise
Renoise <> FL Studio
links to all videos:
Cubase - FL SPP Not working
https://mega.nz/file/PyxTzBBS#DbZFybmEE ... QQ-fXtizwA
Cubase does not send SPP’s to Renoise or any DAW
https://mega.nz/file/WqBgDTgD#GB90OqV9w ... FY-C-MWb34
Cubase syncing to Bitwig no SSPs are sent-received even in stop mode
https://mega.nz/file/G6hlyKbJ#-dpV8Po27 ... 5UBd_dsGNQ
FL Only Receives Start+Stop not even song pointers from Bitwig
https://mega.nz/file/T6whVZLR#W8Qnc-ZkF ... ZXW35lFDec
FL Sends SPP ( Only in STOP Mode, then resets Status ) when Playback started, all SPP’s erased
https://mega.nz/file/Hrwz3CxR#57KE_j07f ... DFE1P5Y_io
FL Sends SPP to Bitwig ( only in Stop mode ), then Resets the start position on play
https://mega.nz/file/n2olCJ5R#KlfNox4lc ... umMeZgPYs8
Cubase does not send SPP's to Renoise or any DAW
https://mega.nz/file/WqBgDTgD#GB90OqV9w ... FY-C-MWb34
FL Studio syncing SPPs only on Stop - then resetting start position on play
https://mega.nz/file/mj4xiJ7L#pJh0g5KAB ... wDemgqo-vQ
And none of those read MIDI Sync properly
Criteria ( is very simple, anyone able to make any of these work together with full )
START/STOP automation
Song Position Pointers automation
is a grand star of MIDI for me
( ..All this works in older systems, with older versions of the same software.. )
So i'm just wondering what is going on, and it seems like no one is able to make these work
( i know all about how to set them up - just want real functionality in 2024 )

There is a reason not many daws sync to midi clock, it's just not convenient and very limited
- if you do tempo changes on one daw the other must follow or there is no sync
- if you do different tempos on parts of a song, the same thing goes
Midi clock is 24 clocks each quarternote, so that changes time between clocks as tempo change.
- and all the noted things about sending/receiving position and that stuff
With MTC both parts(master and slave) are synced in time, not matter what.
- one starts the other does too
- one stops the other too
- and you can freely change position on master where playback is and the other syncs
