I use it from the beginning - nothing comes close.
There are some weak points and the learning curve can be steep.
If a DAW vendor would integrate such a concept it would be a great selling point for this DAW (Ah' - I forgot that some vendors are busy convincing their users to switch to abos.

American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery? That'd be a tough sell. I prefer Jamstix.ukm wrote: Thu Dec 05, 2024 4:28 pm Ah' - I forgot that some vendors are busy convincing their users to switch to abos.
Surely there must be consensus by now...

You sure about that?bobbackwards wrote: Thu Dec 05, 2024 2:35 pm Ralph is still around and he is top notch and can be trusted to support his work.
From what I’ve seen, no one has heard from him for years, including the Rayzoon forum moderator.

always been interested in the trapkat as an alternative to finger drumming...how do you like it overall pros/cons?...do you have to spend a lot of time mapping drum VSTIs to the pads?...maybe what's been in the back of my mind from trying itDirk Diggler wrote: Thu Dec 05, 2024 1:30 pm I use it to arrange and sketch songs, later I go back and learn the drum parts and play them from my Trapkat. Very useful tool.

I am not...just speaking from my own experience. I haven't been on the forums in ages, mostly because I have no issues. If that is the case then it could definitely be a consideration in investing. Still, even with no vst3, a windows user should still be able to get many years of use out of it. All things to consider and a good example of why KVR can be such a valuable source of information. If you can wade throught the pages of insults and d*ck jokes of course...jamcat wrote: Thu Dec 05, 2024 5:48 pmYou sure about that?bobbackwards wrote: Thu Dec 05, 2024 2:35 pm Ralph is still around and he is top notch and can be trusted to support his work.

I did go on the forums recently, the moderator answers any questions, it's pretty quiet...bobbackwards wrote: Thu Dec 05, 2024 6:06 pmI am not...just speaking from my own experience. I presume there must be at least something that happens to trigger discounts and so on - and presumably the bank accounts are active as otherwise the payments would get gummed up.jamcat wrote: Thu Dec 05, 2024 5:48 pmYou sure about that?bobbackwards wrote: Thu Dec 05, 2024 2:35 pm Ralph is still around and he is top notch and can be trusted to support his work.

The only drawback is that there is no vst3 and if you are using Cubase 14, it doesn't work anymore.
I hope Ralph will update JS some day but companies like Toontrack will probably offer new tools with AI to do something similar before. Superior Drummer 3 is 7 years old now

You could use the free kushview elements wrapper which I've tried , maybe toontrack etc will offer similar stuff at some point in the future but at the moment they're not doing the same thingtappert wrote: Thu Dec 05, 2024 7:24 pm The only drawback is that there is no vst3 and if you are using Cubase 14, it doesn't work anymore.

Bought my missing expansion all my missing mini-packs yesterday just to be sure. Now I own everything and made a backup. This plugin is unique and irreplicable.

Yeah I can't even compare finger drumming to using the Trapkat.
I suppose the only CON to the Trapkat would be cost, but it's a serious pro tool/instrument.
The Trapkat you play like a kit, and the results sound like someone playing real drums.
I think because of the interactions and limitations of playing with 2 sticks and 2 feet, the results sound more genuine, at least to me.
I have yet to hear a finger drummer that doesn't sound like a finger drummer.
OK mapping, is so easy, it's not even a consideration. Many presets available in Addictive drums for mapping for instance, but I like my own layout, so I map everything the way I want it.
I even play melodic parts on it, it is after all a midi controller.
Oh yeah I just checked my email backups, last time I emailed Ralph it was 2018, yikes time sure flies.
If you're concerned why not send out a support request?
You could just say you're looking to see if they are still in business. Ralph always responded promptly whenever I've needed support, which is extremely rare.
FYI they have a holiday sale until the end of the year, so I'd say he's still there.
Try the free version of Jamstix if you have any concerns.
One last thing, I was working with Ralph on a bass version way back, but it never really came together. I had offered a nice wide range of basses to sample for him.

I meant maybe Toontrack will offer a Midi generator based on AI in the next version of Superior Drummer, ala Jamstix on top of the usual drum patternshotmitts wrote: Thu Dec 05, 2024 7:33 pmYou could use the free kushview elements wrapper which I've tried , maybe toontrack etc will offer similar stuff at some point in the future but at the moment they're not doing the same thingtappert wrote: Thu Dec 05, 2024 7:24 pm The only drawback is that there is no vst3 and if you are using Cubase 14, it doesn't work anymore.

thanks for replying...i wouldn't discount finger drumming to the confirmation bias of tradition...you have more fingers than hands and feet, so if anything the potential is there to be even MORE expressive...I've seen some brilliant finger drumming personally...check out andre louis playing soniccouture kits on YT...i'd be curious as to what you hear and like/dislike...here is oneDirk Diggler wrote: Fri Dec 06, 2024 4:34 pm Yeah I can't even compare finger drumming to using the Trapkat.
