HI there,
Im new and noob in audio
English is second language for me.
i installed the 32 bit ocenaudio on a win7 laptop and will record and save with that.
i will open and play with my x64 win 10 main desktop with the x64 win10 ocenaudio version.
I use samsonQ1 mic.
So once i have recorded a track i want to save it in the most compact(what is it?) form that will take less space for storage. I dont mind if the quality is low since it is to record my dog barking to know how he behaves when I am not home.
1 how to do that? set it up is there a tutorial somewhere on the web?
2will i be able to open the compressed file on my main pc?
3 where can i like the no spam writings examples because some websites are very sensitive and even posting a link to a youtube vid sometimes causes problem and i want peace.
Ps if this site is not the right place to receive help with Ocenaudio just let me know and maybe direct me a website where users are comfortable with it thanks
thanks !

menu File - Save As.
At the bottom of the form is a drop-down for the file format.
Some of these are compressed. FLAC is lossless compressed, so no quality is lost.
If you want MP3 (supported by nearly every program) that's called "MP2/MP3" in the dropdown.
Use google and wikipedia to look up the other formats.

Hi Bert,
isn't there a compression to be made? or to choose the quality of recording?
If i save in mp3, will i be able to see the waveform when reopening just like in a project?
if not which format allow me to save the project to be able to see the waveform?
Is there a place where i can see the differences of the different format to save to and more importantly the pourcentage in size compared to non compressed format?
thanks

Yes, you can include mp3 files in projects (with a chance it gets decompressed first, so you lost quality and did not gain any free disk space)
I recall the next dialog after selecting file format mp2/mp3 shows compression options. Just try it, learn by experimenting.

Yes. But some quality is lost by mp3 compression. It is not the exact same waveform any more.yeshelp wrote: Wed Dec 04, 2024 9:11 pm If i save in mp3, will i be able to see the waveform when reopening just like in a project?
For recordings of dog barking, it should be fine.
Just try it.

Hi
I look at the track but on the axis of the x horizontal there are number like 100000 200000 300000 until like 40000000 . What is the meaning of those numbers?
it is not written in minutes and hours as it seems . how to make that more easy to read?

hi the software works well . it records with the laptop integrated mic. I would prefer using the samsonq1 mic. the samson was working well on the same pc last month with audacity.
