new bass: "big little" 🎸

This seems to me to be one of the strangest samples: Is it now
"big" or "small"? Or both at the same time?

DSmolken ala Karoryfer introduces a new instrument: "Big little Bass"

He sampled the bass guitar from the 12th fret onwards - and it
doesn't sound like a bass, but rather like a plucked guitar.

Has anyone installed this big-small bass yet? What can you
use this sound for?

Haha, thanks. I was gonna post about that yesterday but had a real music recording session and rehearsal after work and just didn't have time to be online.

It does have standard bass range - the lowest string was an extra-low F, and I played that one from the 6th fret up, covering the standard 5-string's low B and up. So basically, that super-fat super-low string let me have the usual low range but playing high up the neck.

I installed this multisample. And voila - it is one of the most usable
instruments ever. Why?

Because it represents clean palm mutes. You can actually play
these quickly with the guitar. But you can also just use this MIDI
sample because it sounds really good: The 5-fold round robin
makes the sound really organic and lively. The 2-fold velocity also
gives you good dynamics. Not quite as good as playing the guitar -
but almost. And this multisample has such a high bass content that
it can be easily integrated into any mix using EQ.

What makes me still prefer the guitar and microphone is that it's
more fun! However, with this multisample you can make changes
much more quickly via MIDI.
