Can a DAW other than REAPER do this?

So, I was reading around online that you can quickly create a parameter envelope
and add an automation item to a last touched parameter.
In REAPER I created a custom action and assigned it to a Shorcut/Hotkey. It's shown in the pic- FX: Show/hide track envelope for last touched FX parameter -- Track: Select previous envelope -- Envelope: Load automation item...
I hope this helps anyone using REAPER, but can any other DAW quickly do this???

About the line "Track : select previous envelope" ....I'm curious to know what is the "previous envelope" ?
Previous to what ? I understand that it select the envelope track that you just created but why will it always work ?
Thanx

You bet, hope you may figure out how to tweak it because...masonsjax wrote: Sat Dec 07, 2024 9:58 pm Awesome! That exact custom action was on my todo list to investigate. Great timing, thanks!
I have fiddled with it for awhile and it seems to work sometimes but other times resort to a before used automation lane, so hopefully there can be another way to set it up correctly; but, I have been just moving it from said lane to the appropriate one and it's not perfect, but still very fast...Jolaff wrote: Sat Dec 07, 2024 11:21 pm About the line "Track : select previous envelope" ....I'm curious to know what is the "previous envelope" ?

For me if there is other automation lane open it rarely add it to the newly created ...so if you add "Envelope: hide all envelopes for all tracks" before the 3 other instructions it should works every time.twal wrote: Sun Dec 08, 2024 12:25 amYou bet, hope you may figure out how to tweak it because...masonsjax wrote: Sat Dec 07, 2024 9:58 pm Awesome! Ableton does the 'last parameter' thing by default, the moment one clicks 'a' (the shortcut for automation) it shows the envelope for the last touched parameter.
Automation items are interesting, but I found the way Live implemented it a bit better for my use case, since it turns every time selection into essentially a temporary automation item - handles appear on the edges that allow one to manipulate the selected portion of the automation lane. Reaper's way is better if one needs to save automation items, maybe in projects that have to do with shared sound design for video/film/games.

If I'm reading what is happening here correctly, Studio One does this. It has a bar on the top left that keeps track of all parameters that are being touched or moved and if you hit the A button in the bar or hit alt/option+A on your keyboard it will create an automation lane. Alternatively you can drag and drop it into the arrange view and it will create an automation lane track.
Studio One // Bitwig // Logic Pro // Ableton // Reason // FLStudio // MPC // Force // Maschine
