Hi All,

I highly recommend you register for the free Apogee and Mastering.com 3 days producing series.
It is all free and all people registering will get a license for the excellent Soft Limit.
I use it on tracks to get drive and volume, and it is pretty much always on my master bus. :tu:

Thanks Apogee and Mastering for this forthcoming treat.

The Apogee Soft Limit is a quite simple waveshaper as I recall, and costs 10$ normally. So yeah, if you feel 10$ is worth it to get a bunch of spam email (and possibly spam SMS messages if you actually enter your phone number), then sure, go right ahead.

Always remember: YOU are the product in these types of "OMG ENTER NOW!! FREE!!" things.

This was actually a free plugin up until fairly recently. In my opinion it sounds really good though and is worth the money. So for free again is more than welcome!

You can think like that.
Or you can think, : I see an opportunity, will take what I want, learn what I can, and unsubscribe in one single click if need be.
So no need to complain here, companies need to market their products otherwise none of us would have toys to play with. :phones:
Besides we're talking about reputable companies there. Apogee Soft Limit is well worth the money, especially for free and bundled with a production course.

Devil’s advocate here: I’ve never gotten Fruity Waveshaper or Melda’s to sound anything like SoftLimit, so either I’m stupid or they have a really finely-tuned curve that sounds good on most most material! Worth it at $10 imo, even if it is simple.

Can’t comment on the spam, because I don't check that email often, but last I saw there wasn’t an overwhelming amount from Apogee…

Edit: oh, I reread your post I see what you were getting at now lol. I bought it (after losing the link from the first time around they gave it for free), so that must be why I’m not getting spammed

If a product is free and of good quality and can help people, there is zero reason to complain being added to a mailing list.
If you pay and do not get the quality advertised then moaning is understandable.

Now the live event starts soon, I encourage interested participants to consider it, on top of the free Soft Limit !
I personally like to have it on my mix bus, extra drive and volume and so easy to use.

You guys realize you can opt out of marketing lists, right?

A lot of plug-ins are “simple waveshapers” that can be “reproduced” by free plugins, and yet you can never get thoso free plugins to sound the same, as mentioned before.

Most guitar amps are based on the same simpe circuit and no one says they’re interchangeable…

I needed to update my free v1.0.14 to v1.0.15, but I didn't want to pay $10 to do that, especially since I've never used it. This accomplished that.

Will I ever use it? Probably not.
THIS MUSIC HAS BEEN MIXED TO BE PLAYED LOUD SO TURN IT UP

You don't need to update, why? Just use it, cuz it's good.

People have tho, that's what happened with Oxford Inflator. Not saying it's worthwhile to spend all day null-testing, but it is possible.

Aww, now everyone knows, the cat is out of the bag, now everyone knows the panacea for every posible audio problem is solved by just adding a soft clipper to eahc track.

Never used one never will.

It's probably quite a bit of work to get it "exactly" the same because it's asymmetric (creates both 2nd and 3rd harmonics) but the reason for using it is the same as any soft clipper, shaving off some peaks.

I'm probably just reacting to this once again as when it was first released it was touted as some magic soft clip from their hardware boxes/soundcards and it's always good to remind people about waveshapers in general. They are useful but far from magic bullets.

As for spam emails, some of you who think "you can just opt out" are so oblivious and naive of how the world actually works that it makes me almost envious of your ignorance. :hihi:
