Ah yes, the routing is really awesome. It is simple but efficient. Filters are not so so great but they still do the job well.
...It is one of the reasons I went with REs exclusively and almost no VST plugins (as far as possible).
Definitely. That's the plus plus point of Reason.

I would suspect you have a big screen and work on desktop. Maybe multiscreen?
The original reason why I left reason is the navigation between panels and in particular the zoom. You can't pinch or unpinch, it is a workflow killer for me.

As you can see, no need to pinch for me :D With a 3-screen setup, the workflow becomes incredible, as selecting a lane in the sequencer will move the corresponding mixer channel and rack devices into view on the other two screens, and the mixer channel's sequencer and rack buttons do the same. This setup is where the rack excels, and no other DAW with all these floating plugin windows can match that.

Yes! I do believe you.
Very nice setup by the way.

Is it possible to move the new browser between screens?

Not afaik. Mind you, I'm still running R12. I've bought the R13 upgrade during this last Black Friday sales, but I won't install it until the next update drops (hopefully soon).

However, the R13 browser being locked into the screen where you open it, is not a problem for me. As you can see in the picture, I have a dedicated (vertical) screen for the rack, and that is the only window where I currently use R12 left-docked browser. I guess I have to make sure (when moving to R13) that the browser window always opens in that window.

Thanks and yes that is my concern about the browser. Right now, I'm mostly on a laptop but I'm getting rid of my iMac for a new Windows setup, and I will use multiple screens and perhaps upgrade from v12 to... eventually v14.

That browser!!! :dog:

Totally agree. They clearly didn't think this through before going that way.

The big new feature in R14 will probably be... a docked browser

I generally don't comment on compagnies strategy because I consider that I don't have the full picture so I can't judge.
But,
I have a hard time to understand why they don't provide a free empty rack extension host.
I have yet to meet a RRP user who isn't an ex reason user so the money stream from selling reason this way must not be big. And in the other hand I feel they would sell so much Objekt and Friktion... It would give them money stream to invest a bit more on other parts of Reason.

Yeah... Arguably he he....

I remember so many discussions with people willing to buy their RE: Europa, Grain, Friktion and of course objekt even without mentioning the effects... Polar is still pretty unique, rv7000 an excellent reverb they could sell cheap and numerous like muffins !
But who will pay 499 for that?
It is just a way to keep customer away.

And I doubt of the existence of any customer using reason+ for accessing RE.
People subscribing to R+ do that for the stream of samples and presets. I doubt that a free RRP host will damage R+ in anyway....

But again, maybe missing the full picture 😂.

Perhaps this v13 will be the Red Pill for them.
Image-Line should buy them, give it an FL style Pianoroll, so that the slogan "Faster" is actually a legit statement. :smack:

If you buy Reason, it comes with an additional 'free' empty rack extension host. That is exactly what the RRP is: an empty rack extension host :hihi:

Sorry, couldn't resist that one :D

Now for the actual 'free' part: The RRP is not really a stand-alone VST-plugin, it runs on top of the full DAW. It is basically just a front-end for the rack-part of the DAW. To develop that into a real stand-alone product would be very costly. And then giving it away for free means that RE-sales would not only have to pay for the development of the REs, but also for the development of this 'free' empty host. My guess is that the economics just aren't there. Besides all that, my estimate is that they have a VERY small development team, probably less than 10 devs. So they also just don't have the personnel resources.

It's actually the same with a single screen (minus the need to keep turning your head ).
