Ableton Live is the best for anything loop related and for beats. Make sure your samples are the same samplerate as the project before warping and resample/upsample via batch (I use wavlab and I think RX is the best ) if they are not.

How does FL Studio compare against Ableton or Studio One in this?

These are the options of FLS:

.
FLS lacks off the granular/experimental modes ("Tones" and "Texture") of Ableton but imho shines a lot more with the conventional ones...
I.e. the elastique (Complex/Complex Pro) algos are implemented prerendered in FLS means they do not take any CPU at all...aren´t realtime capable (no tempo automation with them)... but include the "Mono" mode for monophonic stuff which Ableton doesn´t have...

For realtime use they developed their own algos which are absolutely on par with the elastique ones but their "Complex Pro" = Stretch Pro in FLS has much more formant control than the one in Ableton... I use that a lot more than I thought before and is automatable for creative use

Ableton´s "Beat" mode is "Slice Map" in FLS but FLS has addtionally "Slice Stretch" which uses a combo out of slicing and timestretching... again imho a better way than just loop the end but it lacks of the slice envelope of Ableton...

"Re-pitch" of Ableton is "Resample" in FLS... but in FLS it isn´t restricted to how many bars you can stretch out!

"Auto" in FLS just chooses a mode it thinks it would be appropriate for the material... i.e. when you insert a drum loop it chooses "Slice Stretch" ... if you have something tonal it takes "e3 generic"
This is the standard mode when you insert any audio into the timeline which includes tempo information...

DP: Zynaptiq Time Factory
Reaper: Elastique, Rubber Band, SoundTouch
Serato Studio/Sample: PitchNTime
Tracktion: Elastique
Cakewalk: Izotope
Mulab: Proprietary
Audacity: Paul Nasca
Discodsp Bliss: rubber band

Independently there is;
IRCAM TS
Tachyon
Picola
Sox
KievII
I believe WOK and ToneCarver have their own proprietary.
But I don't know if any commercial products use them.

More interesting is the differing methods they use and the domains they manipulate in
There’s also Zynaptiq’s ZTX Pro which is their own invention and afaik only included in their audio editors https://www.zynaptiq.com/ztx/

Zynaptiq’s co founder also created Dirac.

Reason uses its own time stretch tech

Digital Performer uses ZTX Pro.
CrimsonWarlock aka TechnoGremlin, Moved to Reason and Rack Extensions exclusively (from Reaper and VSTs) several years ago.
