It has been free several times before. It's nothing special, not worth the hassle. I don't even have it installed anymore.

It's probably quite a bit of work to get it "exactly" the same because it's asymmetric (creates both 2nd and 3rd harmonics) but the reason for using it is the same as any soft clipper, shaving off some peaks.
I appreciate that technical input, nice. :phones:

They don't have to be, if Soft Limit can help someone get a bit of drive and volume on a track or master with little tweaking, then it's already nice. Of course there's more work, with compressors EQs etc.. :tu:
bmanic wrote: Mon Dec 09, 2024 2:08 pm As for spam emails, some of you who think "you can just opt out" are so oblivious and naive of how the world actually works that it makes me almost envious of your ignorance. :hihi:
The unsubscribe button works for me, and in the worst case I just send to the spam box. I have tried many hundreds of plugins in the years and subscribed to many lists, some are too frequent and I end up unsubscribing but cannot remember a single issue with a publisher.

Bmanic is probably referring moreso towards the mailing lists that get collected and sold to advertisers, but Google, Amazon, Facebook and (probably) your credit card provider are already doing that. Impossible to avoid if you’ve used the internet at all within the past decade or two really…

I've used the internet for about 3 decades, 2 of which working in global media advertising.
I know all these techniques, just cannot think of any situation where I found giving my email for a free plugin gave rise to any awfully sticky situation meaning I'd refrain from doing so after.

But I respect everyone's feelings.
All I'm saying is let those who enjoy something enjoy it, even if you don't.

On this note I'm looking forward to watch the Mastering.com session replay tonight ! :hyper:

i use fake email for free plugins that require it but sometimes when i enter the fake email and it says - the installer is send to the email, enjoy
so i stay without the plugin and i am sad :?

the previously free (of price, registration, and licensing) soft limit plugin now costs money and requires ilok. its a good plugin and not a bad price but thats an odd move.

EDIT: good news, its not iloked...like the product page says. additionally, if you got this in the past when it was free, the email to download it looks just like the previous emails that ive got when a new version is available so dig up those previous emails because i think they just point to the newest version... possibly saving yall from having to sign up for some course, give your info away, just to get something that was freely available some time ago.
