If you want the DMG features, go get the DMG product. Because you are effectively wanting the ProQ to do exactly what the DMG eq does, instead of letting ProQ be what ProQ set out to be. Just go buy that other product.![]()
AANDD, I do agree, but damn!

ProQ isn't what it set out to be. It is now an EQ with built in Dynamic EQ and Saturation ala Spectre built in hidden under the same overall gui. comparing contrasting is heathy, competition is healthy.
more features = more better. making Spectre obsolete is a good thing. Making Smoothe obsolete is a good thing. Making Pro-MB obsolete is a good thing. Pro-Q could potentially do all of those things. My logic is infallible and overrides yours.

with this version, I can’t help wondering where they go from here in terms of adding more features. Again, they’ve done such a great job with this but at some point do they just make a different version so Pro-Q can be Pro-Q? I guess, not much to consider for another 5-7 years?
That’s following the aging comments above, and noticing I bought my first FF product in 2008. Almost 17 years ago.

Haha, I have! Here's what I wrote about the Michelangelo on page 7:perpetual3 wrote: Wed Dec 11, 2024 3:50 pmTone Projects Michelangelo transient/body separation sounds very good to me. Have you tried it?hey212 wrote: Wed Dec 11, 2024 2:11 am It's incredibly hard to divide a signal into transients and sustain in real time without artifacts. Yup, the Michelangelo works completely differently than the SplitEQ, and it does not produce artifacts, but you have less control over the transients and sustain.
Per the manual, the transient processing in the Michelangelo does not use FFT, and if you open a band's popup menu to adjust the transient detection, the controls are "sensitivity" and "duration", so it sounds like it's operating in the amplitude and time domains only. This also makes sense because you can't for example solo the entire "Tonal" half of the source material as you can with the SplitEQ, which is where the artifacts really jump out.

I have SplitEQ from the anthology, but haven’t used it yet. Michelangelo Is something I wanted to test out.
I as I record more stuff from modular, I find more reason to want finer control over different things than when recording traditional instruments.

Quoting myself here because I think I may be one of the few people who actually only uses Pro-Q pretty much exclusively as a standard EQ. I don't care about or use the dynamic EQ features and I don't foresee myself using the spectral or saturation features either (I have other tools for that). It's great that FF has included them for people who want them, but they go well outside of what I want or expect from my go-to EQ plugin. However, the two features I mentioned above (i.e., multiple instances and drawing EQ curves) seem like features that will directly improve EQ'ing workflow and mixing and that I will undoubtedly use extensively. So, for those two features alone, it's worth staying current for me.cryophonik wrote: Tue Dec 10, 2024 7:21 pm That looks like a great upgrade! Drawing curves and the ability to see instances across a project look like great additions. Definitely an insta-buy for me.![]()

The Michelangelo is def worth a demo. Very broad, interactive curves, not surgical at all, but lots of extra tricks up its sleeve like the transient manipulation and tube compression. Awesome tweakable sweetening EQ.elxsound wrote: Wed Dec 11, 2024 4:14 pmI’m trying to create a mental bookmark to come back to this.hey212 wrote: Wed Dec 11, 2024 4:07 pmHaha, I have! But that's the ONLY EQ that does it well, and it's very subtle.
Every other transient/sustain sucks ass and is mostly useless

Looking forward to this update. Seems they have listened to the requests and added some nice touches along the way.

Enhancing an already feature-rich and established plugin must have been a huge challenge for FabFilter, but looks like they have done it again. I am looking forward to "Instance list" and "EQ sketch" the most.
The upgrade prices are usually high for FabFilter, so I guess we should be prepared to shell out around $79. But it would be so amazing if it turned out to be $49 instead! Good that the wait is not a long one.

straw man. every feature I mentioned is related to frequency/tone-shaping/dynamics and clearly FabFilter agree becaues the features I mentioned they've added to their plugin.
the problem is why would I use saturation in ProQ or their spectral shaper or the dyn EQ if they're just watered down and half-assed implementations of things that are better in other plugins? then are they just useless features that can make people think its worth buying?
go big or go home. and maybe it SHOULD be a reverb, that could be very useful. but some people would rather pay more for less.
