Good old fashioned sample browser plugin?

Hi folks,

I'm looking for a sample browser plugin.

I tried both Atlas and XLN XO, and after an initial honeymoon "wow" period, i've gone off them for a few different reasons (which i won't bore you with).

So what i want is a simple, folder-structure based sample browser with the following features:

#1: (and most importantly), i don't want it to analyze anything. If i add one sample to a 200 gigabyte library, i want it to show up immediately. It shouldn't need to spend 2 hours re-analyzing the folder and sub folders before it finds the sample.

#2: it needs to search in subfolders. So if i select my top level folder called "samples", and search "rimshot" i want it to list every sample with "rimshot" in file name, also in all subfolders.

#3: a favorites system would be nice, for finding samples back later.

I don't need all the sequencers, mixers, FX and other BS of these bloated plugins like Atlas and XO, i just want a simple, efficient, good working sample browser.

Any ideas?

Have you tried the ADSR one?

I have no idea if it meets all your requirements though.

Thanks, i tried it, seemed very unstable and laggy, but that was working with a massive folder of samples. Will try it a bit more though. Unfortunately it also feels the need to analyze my samples.

How about

Latest version 1.8.4 ADSR Sample Manager does initially analyze whole added library. Very fast on my 12 year old Mac Intel. But does only refresh changes, again in a very fast manner, when new samples added in your local Sample Library folder structure. :tu:

^^^ The free 'player' version will give you a taste of the pro version, and may prove to be all you need. I've opted for the free one since it came out. Never had any issues with it, on various machines.

I see now it's not a plugin, it's no use to me to have something that's constantly disappearing behind my DAW!

The ADSR Sample manager is as close as damn it to a legit sample browser plugin. I run it on OSX and it takes a little time to index my library, but when it's done it's faster than using Logic to preview samples etc. Worth a shot I think.

It's not free anymore but Loopcloud hits every one of your points. For #1, You can turn the analysis off in the settings or you can go to the folder where you added a sample and scan that folder only. It definitely does #2 and #3.
