Pro Q3 is amazing and I use it on every mix, sometimes the only eq I use. I also have Pro MB, Pro C2, Pro L2 and Timeless 3.
So Pro Q4 was an insta-buy from me....until now when I see that it's £57.60 to upgrade.
That's made me pause for thought.

I own 8 products from FF and my upgrade price from Q3 is 59€. TBH that is steep for an upgrade with loyalty bonus.
I'm mainly interested in spectral mode and 59€ would almost be enough to get Curves Equator and Trackspacer. Or Speccraft. Or 4 Firespacers
The other features new like curve drawing or controlling other instances look funny but I doubt I will ever use them.

the upgrade price is too much...
I own most of their expensive plugins, and I still need to pay about $63? This is at most a $40 upgrade for how much they already charge the plugins.

The instancing and dynamics are the standout features for me.
You can save groups of instances so for example you could have all your drum buss eqs in a group, for example. You can show collisions and EQ match from the instance window.
The spectral dynamics and dynamics are all rolled into one which makes sense. I love the feature where you can have the normal dynamics triggered by frequency range. As well as having the attack and release controls you also have an independent threshold control for dynamics.
The spectral stuff works well but it's not as granular as something like Soothe. Still very nice to have.
The curve drawing is another nice feature. It's not supposed to be super accurate but can give you a good starting point.
The only real head scratcher is the character modes. Kind of pointless really.
Overall keeps the fundamental workflow intact, enhancing it in a big way in other areas while adding some really cool features.

I don't think the upgrade cost is egregious. 59 for me.
Particularly given how much I use it and the new additions in 4 are going to be invaluable to me.
I've bought plenty of plugins for more that I rarely use.

Of course it's not dumping prices a la waves, melda, plugin alliance, ... FF has a reputation to keep
Paid about 60 bucks, worth it. Did not find any bugs yet, and the only thing I dislike so far is the way the spectral button is highlighted when activated. It's this blurred, lightly colored, shine, not like a real pressed button or so. Too soft and decent imo.
I really dig the redesign of the main knobs and the visualization of which type of band will be added. And they actually did improve the processing precision & dynamic range again, so this Kirchoff EQ "switchable ultra high 117 bit processing" buzzword feature was just a small thing to add and not some advanced unique technique

By the way, I'm demoing right now, and maybe it's still not fine tuned or I'm not yet accustomed, but there are some workflow issues to me :
- how to get out from the instance list ? EDIT : I found it. There's a little cross at the right top of the interface...
- And how to get out from the presets list when the tree structure is so deep it hides the GUI and you can't hover your mouse on it anymore ?
Also, I tested and for a complex EQ curve in natural phase mode, it completly null with ProQ3. Or at least nulls until -180db.
I speak about this because they advertise in the key features the "highest possible sound quality" and tag it in the "improve" category...
Sound is the same as before (not surprised of course, but...)

They did a holiday sale last year around christmas so it makes sense to at least wait and see if they do it again. The demo runs 30 days anyway. Even 45€ is not exactly a nobrainer though and it would be the highest price I've ever paid for a Pro-Q update.
Would be weird timing for a sale tbh but the exact same thing just happened to Kick3 on black friday.

59.15 for me. But I think that I will wait the sale as well...
