In case anyone was wondering, it looks like James Bernard (3rd from the left) eventually landed at Spectrasonics.
He is credited with working on:
Bob Moog Tribute Library
Keyscape Creative
Omnisphere
Maybe you've heard of those? Anyway, Propellerhead/Reason Studios (Investment Group?) let go of the heartbeat of the once fun and active community with his educational videos and masterclasses.

Driven by stupid wisdom shit like "nobody should be irreplaceable" (that's very true for mediocre teams through).
Anyway don't forget this golden piece of corporate wisdom (delivered to you for free): "it isn't if a monkey can do it, it is how many monkeys you need to do it".

Maybe it would be time for a version 2 or replacement of MClass suite given that it is almost 20 years old?

I'd have liked a really nice subtle analog saturation added to the console though

Oh thats an often requestet feature, this would make sense because it is wasted empty space there in the console and some tape saturation would be such a nice add on.
But this would be waaaay too customer friendly and too logic, so you can wait maybe another 10 years for it?
They won't implement this feature because it is too often requestet and it is too good for the general DAW workflow.

Damn, I'm always logged into my account of course.liquidsound wrote: Tue Dec 10, 2024 9:59 pm Yes, but you need to have an account or make one to access the download.
However, it seems that you only need to create an account, to be able to download the installer and demo the software. That means it is still free to demo. The statement I was countering is that it is not free to demo, which is still false.
If we want to be really correct, I did post a link to the download-page, as it is actually in the url: /download/reason1303/, but obviously you get redirected when not logged in. I surely did NOT post a link to the registration page, as that is a different URL.Not a big deal but "You posted a link to a Reason Studios registration page" is correct.

Even there, Reason Studios have massive UX deficits. They can't (or won't due to mismanagement) implement easy to use workflow logic to try out their demo. Every other software company has more accessible demo versions.
It seems that they not only want to get rid of the old loyal users, new users are also no longer welcome.

Man, thats really some strange behaviour, really. You can use the demo only if you make a subscription. It seems that they are really desperate, very bad signs....but who knows.

Not a subscription, you have to make an account, there's a difference. Many plugin developers have the exact same requirement, to make an account before you can download anything, even free stuff. I never see anyone complaining about that. Hell, if you want to install the FREE version of Luna, you even have to install some copy protection BS on your machine first
I agree Reason Studios could/should make things more clear, but seriously... making an account to download their demo (which is actually their full version, running in demo mode without a license) is a problem now? If I think of all the places where I needed to provide my email to be able to download even silly shit

The FAQ page screenshotted directly above you literally says that in order to try Reason 13 before purchasing, you must sign up for a $1 trial, and then goes on to refer to this as a "subscription" that "can be cancelled at any time".crimsonwarlock wrote: Thu Dec 12, 2024 2:04 pmNot a subscription, you have to make an account, there's a difference. How is this not a subscription?

They want you to try the R+ subscription, instead of running the program for free in demo-mode because in demo-mode you have only the stock devices, and you can't save anything. while when you try R+ for a month, you get ALL the Reason Rack Extensions, AND you can save your projects, which basically ties you in to their ecosystem and gives a much bigger chance of people who try it out to keep subscribing.oscillik wrote: Thu Dec 12, 2024 4:21 pm The FAQ page screenshotted directly above you literally says that in order to try Reason 13 before purchasing, you must sign up for a $1 trial, and then goes on to refer to this as a "subscription" that "can be cancelled at any time".

The bottom line is this: Yes, they advertise to try R+ for one dollar for one month, but you can still demo the perpetual license version for free.
