FYI Plugin Boutique email reports that those who bought Pro-Q3 after Oct 13th will get Q4 for free...

Really nice update BUT UI became darker and I have mixed feelings about this one. From one hand it's nothing crucial but from other – now UI is hard for my eyes. But of course I bought this one

3000 samples is not exactly low latency eitherMirkoVanHauten wrote: Thu Dec 12, 2024 5:14 pm You can adjust the spectral resolution. At low it will add some 3000 samples. I guess that just changes the FFT size in the background to 2048. Nut sure what resolution a tool like trackspacer needs where it's about wide ducking and not surgical Eqing.
Not sure what DAW you're using, but instances are colored and named perfectly fine. Of course your host and plugin format need to support it.
I have no idea what Trackspacer does, but it is zero latency, as is Equalizer which also can do this, and both Firespacer and Speccraft have a zero (or tiny) latency mode.
CPU hit is also pretty damn hard. I get around ~4% cpu usage increase if I add a spectral band in LOW mode and 12% in HIGH mode. Adding Soothe2 instead costs me ~2.5% with ULTRA resolution.
I'm using Reaper and can confirm the track naming works with the VST3 version. Either there is an issue with the CLAP version or CLAP doesn't support that feature.

Mixed feeling about that too. I don’t think it should be darker, but I also don’t usually use the control section. I do almost everything at the node level and its pop-up window.Andrei Marchenko wrote: Thu Dec 12, 2024 5:43 pm Really nice update BUT UI became darker and I have mixed feelings about this one. Who needs contrast? We're all getting younger and eyesight improves as people age right?

Very nice evolution, but I also have critics:
- The latency / PDC in spectral mode in inacceptable (minimum 46ms at 48kHz). See Waves IDX, Soothe or Voxengo Teote, which can do the same with 0ms. Though quality is outstanding.
- The multi view is kind of nice, but still doesn't use the full space. Would be nice, if resizing of the window independent in X/Y-axis was possible then. Also it would be nice, if you still could see the detail popup below of the current selected eq/band
- Somehow UVI Spectre is more accessible, space is better used
If you compare the spectral mode quality wise, only the free Spectral Compressor seems to be as precise as Pro-Q4, but already with a low latency of 5.3ms.

In Cubase 14, I enabled the spectral feature on a couple nodes and then played back my loop. I noticed the timing was very off. Not even close. After a bit of troubleshooting I discovered if I moved the ASIO Guard from Normal to Low, the timing was corrected. Then I Switched it back to Normal and it still retained correct timing.
It seemed to be ok even after closing and reloading the test project.
Then I added another instance of Q4 on a different track and enabled Spectral mode on a node. Same timing issue. Same workaround fix.
So I guess I'm now one of those bug testers I was mentioning that I was opting not to become, just a couple of hours ago.

Yeah.. imho Fabfilter started changing GUI past version 2 for the sake of changing. Not necessarily because it offered better UX or GUI.Andrei Marchenko wrote: Thu Dec 12, 2024 5:43 pm Really nice update BUT UI became darker and I have mixed feelings about this one. Like a lot of the moving color stuff (for the modulation) in Saturn, the tiny circular buttons on Timeless (and Twin) that also double as modulation, the huge amount of wasted space just to prioritize a spectrum graph and filter graph (way disproportionate in relation to the other controls).
To me, Pro-L, Pro-MB, Pro-C and Pro-G still possess the delicate balance in GUI/UX that made Fabfilter so superior in that department (I know.. subjective)

The upgrade sneaked into my account without me asking for it.
Good way to do business. Next time I'd probably get something else when they get on sales again.
