the upgrade is really steep... i checked, they had sometimes a xmas sale? but i cannot imagine they do one now shortly after the BF sale...
well I wanted to get this asap but 60 bucks is big but this could make some things easier, the spectral editing and the instance view might help a lot.
i wonder how CPU heavy the spectral stuff is? i cannot imagine when my project has 40 instances of PRO-Q3 which works great now using 40 instances with Pro-Q4 and maybe 10 of them using spectral stuff?

Their pricing prevents me of buying their products.

I just had a look at Toneboosters Equalizer Pro, that thing is packed with options I have never seen in an EQ and costs less than a Pro-Q upgrade, I will definitely check it out.
New users PM me for a 10% FabFilter or 20% MeldaProduction/United Plugins discount

Q4 without a spectral band is around 0.3% here. If I turn on spectral for one band that goes up to around 4%. Adding more spectral bands doesn't hit that hard tho, it seems to be a "one time fee" per instance. CPU is an AMD 7950x

seems not bad then . well im still on the fence to bite or not as it could be time saving but lets see in a week if a sale happens. i doubt it, maybe im still gonna get it as fabfilter is top notch and i support simple key CP but i dont support the upgrade price...

Fabfilter could have give you free major updates all the way from ProQ1 up to ProQ4, but reality is:
Fabfilter would most likely not exist any more, if they would work for free. So....... You want fancy new versions from ProQ? Yes? Well, it needs money in order to do so, otherwhise there will be no Fabfilter any more at all.

On the other hand, in the meantime since I bought Q3 I have (in sales) bought Sonible's Smart EQ and Eventide's Split EQ, so £63 for an upgrade takes it out of the "instabuy" into the "not going to buy" column, so FF get nothing at all. How is that good for them?lfo2k wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2024 1:31 pm Fabfilter could have give you free major updates all the way from ProQ1 up to ProQ4, but reality is:

I'm not asking for Q4 for free, but I could buy one or two plug-ins for that upgrade price. FF aren't the only precision EQ in town these days.

Every year a new generation (worldwide) of producers is added to the potential buyers. Perhaps using selling strategies with better licensing models would attract these millions of potential customers.lfo2k wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2024 1:31 pmFabfilter could have give you free major updates all the way from ProQ1 up to ProQ4, but reality is:

I will never see it as normal for a user (one of those who have driven the company's success) to pay multiple times more than a new user.

When someone criticizes an upgrade price, people always make that same obtuse argument about working for free. Nobody is complaining that it should be a free update; it's the price that's the sticking point, and maybe the asking price for what's been added, what type of plugin it is, and what it costs relative to its competition. I'm not mad at them for the update price but I did kind of lose interest.Mr Arkadin wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2024 2:00 pmOn the other hand, in the meantime since I bought Q3 I have (in sales) bought Sonible's Smart EQ and Eventide's Split EQ, so £63 for an upgrade takes it out of the "instabuy" into the "not going to buy" column, so FF get nothing at all. But more to the point, they don't rush out half baked paid updates every year to stay in business, so evidently they're still selling new licenses. The idea that they would starve if they didn't charge $60-90 for an EQ update once every 4-5 years is hard to credit.

UPDATE: This has been adequately resolved. No need to reply.
I bought the upgrade, but I immediately noticed they removed the ability to freeze the spectrum analyzer by just mousing into that area and holding the mouse button until it turned blue. I often use that feature, and now it's buried in the lower nav bar under the analyzer option. Pretty bummed by that. I really wish there was a key combination or modifier for it. :/
Otherwise, I think I'll enjoy the new features quite a bit.

Can you just enable it once from the analyzer settings and it stays on in subsequent instances?sl1200mk2 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2024 3:32 pm I bought the upgrade, but I immediately noticed they removed the ability to freeze the spectrum analyzer by just mousing into that area and holding the mouse button until it turned blue.
