My Christmas bonus was about the cost of one Michigan Synths Works Xena more than I was expecting, so I ordered one (with the SMR filter).

I think this may be the first year that I don't purchase any music gear during black Friday sales or for Xmas. At least not for myself. I got a Blipblox for my nephew and some parts for a project I'm building for work, but nothing for my studio.
There are some things that interest me. I came close to buying a Fenix 2 kit from Patch Point... but $6k for a kit is a bit of a stretch. I might still swap my Quantum for a MK2 but that's probably next year. I'm probably going to build clones of Buchla 259, 245, 248, 285 and 296 next year, maybe another 281/292 combo as well.

Ah, heck. Sorry you didn't get that subscription to the Jelly of the Month Club, Clark. That's the gift that keeps on givin'.cryophonik wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2024 8:02 am My Christmas bonus was about the cost of one Michigan Synths Works Xena more than I was expecting, so I ordered one (with the SMR filter).
I was on track to get through the year having only bought a few pieces of software. But then that Lakland 44-60 I'd been eyeing up dropped its price and I caved. (I've been good lately - managed to go almost 3 years without buying a bass.)

Nice bass! I have a 55-01 that I absolutely love! And, what a small world - I just bought a synth from Michigan, you’re from Michigan, and I’m originally from Michigan. I believe Michigan Synth Works is only 15 minutes or so from where my brother lives downstate. Small world, indeed. Congrats on your purchase!cryophonik wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2024 7:12 pmNice bass! Another day another Behringer thing.
This Linn drum clone is priced up at £369 for preorder at Andertons.
The display looks like it’s come straight from an Elektron! I’ll just use the Samples From Mars samples with some plugins but interesting to see all their long mooted products starting to arrive. The Brophet-16 is the one I’m really intrigued by.

With the SVF voices, looks like. Good choice. I had tried the Mission 4P and SMR4 voices and while I liked the SMR4, I preferred the SVF for the kinds of sounds I make.

No, this one actually has the SMR4! I was debating between the SMR4 and SVF (my old Shruthi XT had the SVF and I loved it), but in the end, I already have a few hardware synths with SVF and nothing Roland-flavored, so that was my preference, then I found a great deal on one on Reverb so I snagged it!

Just ordered a second Westlicht Performer, only cost me £270.
I think bang for buck you’d be hard pushed to find a better value melodic sequencer for eurorack.
Think it would really take off if it was available from manufacturers prebuilt.
I’m kind of tempted to delve into the world of alt firmware coding. I’d really like to add a chord track option e.g. use track 1 to set chords to be sent to set tracks 2 to 5 as CV/gate.
