Ok, I have some vintage synths that really could all use to have their floppy drives replaced.
I want to use one of those gotek rotary encoder based floppy drive emulators. Do any of you have any experience with this? I can't seem to find the specific models that have a rotary encoder and an OLED display on amazon. As I understand it, these devices can be flashed with open source firmware.
Does anyone have any experience using/sourcing/installing these emulators?

That gotek thing has a fixed config of tracks & sectors. Your synths might need something else.
This one claims it can be whatever is required:

Sorry, no oled display or rotary button. But I never saw a floppy disk with that.

Ok, yeah, that's good for making sure that I can get something to work, but, other people have installed the gotek, so, I don't want to lock into a more comprehensive unit yet if I don't need one; especially since it doesn't have a very good U/I.BertKoor wrote: Sun Dec 15, 2024 12:02 am That gotek thing has a fixed config of tracks & sectors. The $75 one on eBay has a larger bezel that supposedly fits some instruments better. We installed a Gotek into a DSS-1 and I think I do remember there being a gap, although it was fine.
