Only $9.99!!!

It can’t do BF-2 sounds?

It's a BBD Flanger and a good one but the BF-2 is The Cure flanger right? Wouldn't hurt to get an Audiority version.

There's enough room in this world for two good flanger pedal emulations of different hardware.

The Kuassa one Uncle E mentioned is actually a great flanger. Tons of options like in most of their products. Kuassa is very underrated usually, much like Overloud TH-U.

Robert Smith is associated with the BF-2, yes. I think because in 1992 he told Guitar World he liked BOSS pedals for their colours.

However, the Cure’s history with flangers is actually a bit more complicated.

The first album Mike Hedges ever produced was The Cure’s Seventeen Seconds. He did a Classic Tracks article with Sound On Sound for ‘A Forest’ where he said this:

“I basically collected every single flanger and chorus I could find anywhere in the studio and borrowed them from people with new units, and for ‘A Forest’ I think we had as many as seven flangers running on ‘envelope’, flanging on the shape of the sound coming in rather than as a constant. Aside from bass and guitars, you can particularly hear it on the cymbal crashes, which dive away immediately following the hits.”

My guess is those particular 7 flangers were Eventide FL201 Instant Flangers, because of the envelopes.

Seventeen Seconds was released in April 1980, the same year that BOSS released the BF-2. Recording began in late 1979, so It’s unlikely the BF-2 was available while it was being recorded. But one of those untold number of flangers that were used may have been a BOSS BF-1.

When Robert took over guitar from John McGeoch in Siouxsie & The Banshees, he inherited John’s MXR M-117 flanger, and I believe he took it with him back to The Cure for The Top.

On Disintegration, Robert mostly played 6-string bass (Fender VI) but he does play guitar on Last Dance and Fascination Street, and both have heavy flanger. But it’s the unmistakable sound of the Electric Mistress, not a BF-2.

However, when you get to Wish, and beyond, it seems that Robert goes exclusively BF-2.

This Twilight Garden is most definitely a BF-2, which by itself makes the BF-2 “the Cure flanger” in my book.

I'm waiting for Aly James to update VPROM. That one actually reads the EPROMs of the original and does the thing with the hats that makes them sound more lively than samples. I suspect the GForce isn't anywhere near as deep and just a sample player.

Since they already did the DMX, I’d rather see them complete the Doktor Avalanche series with a DR55 and an RX5.

Good call. RX5s are so expensive at the moment, could do with a decent VST version for my Black Planet cover :hihi:
How original

I think our best bet still is Audiority. With enough demand, Luca will do it.

We could also pursue Cytomic, as many people really like Andy's TubeScreamer model. But we would have to wait until 2050 for it to be finished.
It’s happened :hyper:

I like how there is a hi-band switch. It seems that we will be able to switch between the BF-2 and the HF-2, which is great when you want a flanger on rhythm guitar without overpowering it.

I have a MIJ BF-2 that’s never left my board (guitar and bass), but have never gotten to play thru a HF-2. I’m intrigued.
