 Right 30 seconds of work to get an opportunity to play one if not the best sounding vstsynths ever made , yeah that's unacceptable to put in 30 seconds of work in on your part. Where do people come up with these rules ?
Do you need to create an account with personal detail just to try a synth in a shop.
No.

Updated trial again today.

Still nasty clicks and cracks on many presets changes. Not nice on speakers!
Still no real values for AU.

Post

I know nothing about VSTi development, but I'd think the preset change behavior would be something like:

1. Quickly fade down the volume
2. Change all the parameters
3. Clear the audio buffers
4. Quickly fade up the volume

...regarding the AU params, you might want to post on Gearspace and tag the Acustica folks. I don't think that's on their radar and they're not spending as much time here.

Just use a burner email address with fake details and set that email account to forward to your main email.

THING - rel. A073 / THING (trial) - rel. A018
• HiDPI Retina support
• Fixed possible LFO out of sync issue
• Fix chorus unwanted noise
• TH8 key follow issue fix

Aftertouch or volume modulation for the filter would be nice, also MPE

This has still never made it to completely usable for me on a M1 Max MBP (whether in Ableton, Logic or Bitwig), my ears and speakers can't take the pops. It's a bummer, it does sound very good (though I wonder how much of that is the psychoacoustic magic of the superstereo thing) but I don't see the issues getting ironed out any time soon.

Post

The sound is excellent even without superstereo. Superstereo is a gimmick. Anyway, agreed that the clicking makes this useless. J-8 is close enough and has no issues.

Post

would be also nice if they optimize the effect. The delay is sounding only after 25 percent mix. It would be nice if the fx parameters would be more precise and if we can sync the delay time in notes or switch to free sync, right now it's not very intuitive

I've noticed quite a few times that there are parameter ranges that seem to jump suddenly at certain points, as opposed to smooth changes as would be normal, but I haven't put time into reproducing exact configurations where changes seem to happen suddenly.

This vsti is the thing? Or to many problems....?

Post

There's no problem, but Acustica always loads too much. They consume a lot of CPU. In short, the sound of any of their plugins is always unbeatable.

Post

Wow. I really didn't want to like Acustica's synths. I broke down and bought Expanse when it came out and now I want Thing - will buy if there's a good black friday deal. But Acustica stuff feels like I'm installing some sketchy PC games on my Mac - so inelegant and bloated. So, does anyone know the magic part... why they really sound better than other emulations? They sound more alive and present, like I imagine the hardware sounds.

Have other developers commented on this? I know Urs has criticized Softube's synths - but I like the sound of Model 80 more than Repro. Urs also says while he love's UAD's minimoog, he doesn't think it is accurate.
