Arturia just released their emulation of the Studer J37 tape machine. Until the 9th of Jan you can buy it at a discount or get it bundled with FX Collection. I own V Collection 9 and FX Collection 3, and it's showing as 59 euros for me.

Glad I'm able to see the full studio behind now, Will definitely make my track sound more analog.

500mb installation size only for the png animation - I hope that's streamed from the ssd or something. :hihi: Seriously, not a good approach to save memory usage.

Arturia's pricing is poor (edit/. for existng owners of FX bundles > better to just get the complete v4, v5 , v6 to come instead of single bites... :o > hot cakes for hot boys&girls...

Interesting. I just crossgraded to the FX collection for 50 bucks.

Now they want another 50 bucks for a single plugin. hmm...

Okay now.. damn, I shouldn't have tried the demo. This is one SERIOUSLY impressive plugin. Running it at 384kHz with the highest built in oversampling, you can push it ridiculously far without it sounding like ass.

This has got to be one of the most impressive tape plugins out there. It's super flexible too. Love the "modern" button that removes the EQ colouring of the machine itself.

Quite expensive for a single tape thing but yeah.. this is very impressive in my opinion. Instantly usable on tons of material. No idea how close it's to the real deal as I've never even come near to a real J-37 machine but I do have quite a lot of time using various other tape machines and the way this one kills transients and can be abused "feels correct" in my opinion.

This may very well be the most impressive plugin from Arturia this far.

EDIT: Only missed opportunity is the Delay feature. It can't be set to 100% wet for just the delay, so it can't be used on a send. Wish they had figured a way to do that.

Sure, that’s how the whole deal works. If you need this plugin now, buy it now. If you can wait, get it the next time you upgrade the fx collection for a much better price.

I, for one, will not even try the demo  and just stay patient.

How’s the CPU? Better than IK Tape Machines?
THIS MUSIC HAS BEEN MIXED TO BE PLAYED LOUD SO TURN IT UP

It does sound nice. 7.5IPS on the dirtiest color (4) with a slight amount of drive is quite fine.

For fun click and hold the mouse button on the tape itself -- tape stop effect.

Indeed, I know the score. I just don't like it.
