Exciting news.

Been quite impressed with PolyKB lately. Only wish the library browser was bigger on the screen.

Starting a sentence with 'and' isn't one of them.

Is that really so wrong?

ironically, that was literarily hilarious

i'm keen to hear this. The Arturia and Cherry emulations of such dinosaur synths don't really do much for me. BUT (<- comedy gold right there) Xils have a certain "i don't know what" that sounds a bit more like hardware. Might have to source myself a ribbon controller and pretend I'm a real synth player :D

Yes, it's a heinous crime.
Firstly, has it ever been wrong to begin a sentence with and or but? No, it has not. We have been breaking this rule all the way from the 9th century
If its not wrong, you're not breaking a rule. They are contradicting themselves. This site cannot be trusted.

Back to the cheesy synth :hihi:

Of my English teacher colleagues, I find the ones opposed to starting sentences with coordinating conjunctions tend to be the ones who went to Catholic schools as kids.

But I see so many professional writers start sentences with coordinating conjunctions. It's a thing.

For example, V. S. Naipaul, a writer whom I think is among the best of sentence crafters, wrote the following introductory paragraph in "In the Middle of the Journey":
Coming from a small island–-Trinidad is no bigger than Goa–-I had always been fascinated by size. To see the wide river, the high mountain, to take the twenty-four-hour train journey: these were some of the delights the outside world offered. But now after six months in India my fascination with the big is tinged with disquiet. Dawn comes, night falls; railway stations, undistinguishable one from the other, their name-boards cunningly concealed, are arrived at and departed from, abrupt and puzzling interludes of populousness and noise; and still the journey goes on, until the vastness, ceasing to have a meaning, becomes insupportable, and from this endless repetition of exhaustion and decay one wishes to escape.
Back on topic--I've seen two new VST synth demos in the last few days that both feature Blade Runner sounds. We cannot get away from Blade Runner; it is forever the stick by which synths are measured.
Doing nothing is only fun when you have something you are supposed to do.

Quite surprised to see him shitting on a XILs synth/thread. And to include a grammar mistake, too. Oh my.
I lost my heart in Cap de Creus

Let’s face it, Americans are generally terrible at grammar. You should see my mom’s internet posts. She’s got a masters in Library Science and she writes like a 2nd grader, but only on internet posts.

If they don’t include some pretty compelling features that other synths have, it’s going to be pretty difficult for them to get me to buy this. I already think Model 77 is excellent for accuracy, and CS-80 V is pretty good and what it lacks in accuracy it makes up for in additional functionality.
