To the other users having the CPU spike issues, I've been testing this morning and I'd like to know if you find the same as me: With the UI open, the synth continues to spike to 100% at idle indefinitely every couple of seconds. If I close the UI, the spikes all but stop and the synth behaves as normal. I've made a video and sent this to support. If you find the same, please report it to support too.

I'm running an M1 max studio into a 4k TV, 60hz. Whether this combination matters or not I don't know, but it might. Could be a refresh rate + resolution thing conflicting with the synth UI?

No sorry, I just tested and I don't see significant differences with UI on or not.
Maybe you can direct me to a specific patch where you witnessed that ?

I'm running Avenger on my older Windows laptop and 60Hz UI eats my CPU/GPU (seee the video below). I had the same issue with Minimal Audio Current (luckily it has a med/low refresh rate setting option and it fixes the problem). I wish this option was added to Avenger.

Just the simple INIT patch that it loads with. Do we have the same issue? Does your CPU sit and spike constantly even when idle, like this?

Also, what display are you running into, what res and refresh rate?

Interesting. Slightly different issue to what I have but still may be related in some way.

Whaaaaa. Your issue is way worse than mine indeed.

I don't have any spike when playing simple patches. It is more for complex patches.

I am on a MacBook Pro m2 pro. It is slightly shy of 4k and 60hz...

There was an option in Avenger 1 to limit framerate but they remove it in v. 2. Strange, don't know why they remove it.

Avenger 1 ran quite well on my system. I upgraded to ver.2 as they promised even better CPU optimization - but the results are the opposite.

On my own testing on a macbook air m2 (monterey 12.5, Avenger 2.3.1), I see spikes like you do (and goes away when GUI is closed). Not as bad as your vid but still garbles the sound completely on init patch

In Logic,
- With GUI open, seems ok-ish initially (44.1k 256buffer). See a few spike at random but not too much of a pattern. As soon as I open a browser and go to say youtube (GPU load), the single core spike starts to come in, crackling sound (matching cpu spikes) even when no MIDI was sent/played.

Like what you discovered: Another synth (say, u-he Repro) doesn't seem to have the same problem

Doing the same test in Reaper it doesn't seem to happen (AU/VST3). The CPU meter looks different and is harder to see, but at least when idle (no MIDI notes), no crackling like Logic+Avenger

For curiosity, by any chance you tried in another DAW as well? Gonna find some time myself to get a clean system to repeat the test before emailing support. Hope this get reproduced by them.

I confirm, GPU peak from 3% to 40% with GUI. My GPU is a RTX 4080 Super OC.

Ho ! I thought only Mac users were impacted.

I don't have another DAW to test in unfortunately. Hopefully if everyone contacts support, they'll take the issues serious and find a fix asap.
