HI
I hope you are well
So i record the room where my dog is when i am not there to know about his barking.
Recently, i went out for 1h15 (i used chronometer from my watch) but when i arrived home, the recording was only of 25 minutes... It is the second time it does that . Anyone has idea of why it does that and how to have the full 1h15 time recording when i arrive?
it is also written undefined format at the right but im not sure it is linked to the problem.
Thanks

you might try getting a portable WAV or MP3 recorder (hardware) instead.
usually you can record VERY VERY VERY long files with those and they run on batteries.

Me thinks the computer simply goes to sleep from inactivity.

i am not sure a laptop goes to sleep if there is a program currently running. Can it do that?
Also that would not be very coherent because most of times the program records the whole thing . And lots of bouts a complete silence in both scenario.
Should i leave ocenaudio full screen or minimize it to half or a complete shrink to de bottom?

I'm not sure about waveform display, but I have seen a Sony device at best buy that records to WAV similar to the Sony device that I have that records to MP3. But the problem is, MP3 is less quality than WAV. But the WAV one is more expensive. Nevertheless, there's tons of brands of field recorders. TASCAM, ZOOM, SONY, etc.yeshelp wrote: Sun Dec 22, 2024 10:24 pmwould you have a link of a cheap device that can do that?mjolnir wrote: Sun Dec 22, 2024 12:08 am you might try getting a portable WAV or MP3 recorder (hardware) instead.

My Sony has a slot for a microSD chip and has built in storage too. I use it for foley drums samples and as a portable MP3 player.
I'd do a keyword search there or ask around.

It surely can. Just try it and watch it every 10 minutes.yeshelp wrote: Sun Dec 22, 2024 10:27 pm i am not sure a laptop goes to sleep if there is a program currently running. Can it do that?
But if it usually doesn't... maybe it ran out of battery, or the disk was full, hard to tell, that moment has passed.

I totally agree with BertKoor, it must've been something on your computer that stopped the recording. Out of interest I hit the record button in ocenaudio (without really recording anything, also left everything on default) and it runs for more than one and a half hours.
So it must be something different that forced ocenaudio to stop, like Bert already mentioned "sleep mode" on your computer or so.
Personally I wouldn't really recommend getting a field recorder extra for this, unless you have use for it otherwise. I don't think you have to spend money for this usecase, ocenaudio or Audacity are pretty much perfect for that. Or maybe you got an old smart phone you could use for that.
