The reFX download manager also tells you which Nexus version each expansion is compatible with. I think every one that I looked at said they were compatible with Nexus 2-5.

Do all the Nexus presets and expansions of the previous years sound and work exactly the same when used in Nexus 5 as they do when used in Nexus 4? No changes in this regard that could affect projects from previous years?

Do the new features make it easier to create beautiful complex and evolving pads for ambient and ASMR music from the existing Nexus presets? I would be obliged for some examples/demos.
Yes you have access to many sound engines now. So it all depends on your source material. Refx gives you alot to work with even just version 5 , a ton of features and new sounds. Glorious
Thank you for the information. Some good examples and demos could help to better understand what can be achieved. I like beautiful breathy (or breathing?) pads like those from the 90s (not contemporary ones). For example, Korg Triton-Rack's Fresh Breath preset. I hope that Nexus 5 will not become something like Serum, which does not sound nice to me.

Merry Xmas!

Only skins for Retro, not for other views?

That's a shame, if so.

They've said other skins are coming for the main UI.

The LEDs seems to get assimilated by grey blocks over time (Mac).

Probably similar to Vital I guess, with "just" color-themed skins and no custom graphics.

Same here, once you close and re-load Nexus it`s fine again.

Plus a few completely new ones! :)

What a nice update for Christmas. Thank you, reFX! :tu:

The only thing that I am not so happy about is the large shadow across the black retro skins (and the Grand Piano skin); to me, it is a bit too dark. Maybe, in the black skins (and the Grand Piano skin), the shadow could be less prominent (like in the very bad mock-up below; compare to the original N2 Skin). But this is just my personal taste.

Is it possible for the user to edit the retro skins or even create new ones?

Generally, when it comes to Nexus Version No. 5, I must really say that this has been a wonderful and fastastic update! Very well done, reFX!

My personal highlight - apart from the new gorgeous GUI and the N2 Retro mode - is a very simple but effective function: single click preset load! What an improvement regarding workflow! I have found that I am using Nexus more than ever before - just thanks to that option.
Every plug-in should have that!

Finally (and I am not sure whether this has already been mentioned here), could it be that the browser in the retro skin and the librarian do not work hand in hand? For example, if I click on a preset in the retro skin, and then click on the previous / next buttons in the header, the synth jumps to a preset in a completely different location (i. e. expansion).

BTW, what is the difference between a folder and an expansion? From the manual:

"Folders: Contains the factory content as well as any custom preset folders. You can right-click to add a new folder. Note: saving a preset to a custom folder creates a copy of the preset and its settings.

Expansions: Lists your installed expansions along with the total preset count of each folder."

But why, then, are the new Christmas 2024 and Vintage Synths 3 expansions listed as "folders" and not as "expansions" (see pictures below)?

Anyway, all in all, really enthusiastic here about Nexus 5! Awesome job, reFX!
