Hello,
I'm trying to permanentky delete lots of plugins from my old MacBook Pro OS Catalina, but when I go into /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components and look in the AU and VST folders, they are empty, so I can't delete them.
This is strange as I have many years worth of audio plugins on the MacBook, and they deffinitely work in a DAW. I'm wanting to set it up as a dedicated workhorse to use with Gig Performer software, and would like to trash many plugins I no longer need and/or are now unlicensed.
I hope someone here can suggest a workaround for this.
Thanks in advance...

There are two Libraries on a Mac.
The one in your User directory and the one in the main directory.
You should check both of them.

Your DAW should show the path where it loads the plugins from.

Thanks for your replies. I tried both Library and User Library but neither have anything in them. Very strange indeed. I'll look into the app Martin. Will report back later with results.

I went to do the same and found that a number of companies installed their plugins inside their respective Application Support folders. I sorted the contents of the App Support folders by size to determine which ones had been installed into (make sure your Finder view settings have "Calculate All Sizes" enabled).

@martinjuenke
I checked out the PlugInfo app but it won't run on OS Catalina 10.15.7
It requires a minimu OS of ...so I'll just have to keep searching for a solution.

this is true for additional files but the component/vst-files aren‘t there. they should be in the components/vst folder.

not free, but works quite well: https://www.widebluesound.com/audio-plugin-uninstaller/

Yes, they should be, yet here I am posting about my recent experience.

If they are AUv3 plugins then they will be installed as apps in the Applications folder.

@KVRian...Thanks for that app link. I've installed it and will try it out later today. Hopefully it will reveal the light at the end of the tunnel...Cheers

YES...The wide Blue Sound plugin uninstaller is great; so easy to use, sort and find what you want to delete.
Thanks KVRian...well worth the small cost.
