Behringer stomp boxes

Hi,
I wonder about other musicians opinion regarding Behringer pedals.
I might buy a Behringer FX 600 Digital multi FX.
Back in 2007 the lead guitarist in my band at the time got a Behringer stomp box, a pink/red -ish distortion pedal at his birthday but to be honest we considered it useless to even put in his pedal board (huge pedal collectio
n). It just sounded awful not even good enough to use as dirty, weird sounds. Also it had more plastic than sound.
Are they better now, better soundm shell etc...
Worth to buy?

Are these Windows only or do they run on OSX as well?

wonder if it was an OD300? The boss pedal it was based on was a pretty divisive pedal anyway so wouldn't judge them all on that. the fuzz and ds2 clone both sound fine.GhoulofAeons wrote: Mon Dec 16, 2024 7:37 am Back in 2007 the lead guitarist in my band at the time got a Behringer stomp box, a pink/red -ish distortion pedal

I have a couple of them I bought for really stupid cheap prices at Sweetwater heh.
The 'Heavy Metal' is pretty much dead on with my Boss HM-2 (I have three including the Waza to compare). The only real difference is the High knob on the Behringer has a little more to it and if you turn it all the way up it goes past Swedish death metal into squealing pig territory.
But the thing is plastic. I can destroy it with a Boss pedal case heh. I left it untouched for a few months, and the next time I got it out to use it, somehow there is now something moving around inside the case and the footswitch has to really be smashed to turn it on/off. Literally left it sitting on a shelf for about 6-7 months.
The 'Super Fuzz', yeah sounds like a Boss FZ-2. The Analog Delay, sounds pretty much like my Waza DM-2 on the 'classic' mode, and both made me realize I hate analog BBD delays. I actually have two of each of those. My first order ended up in FedEx limbo, Sweetwater immediately rushed me out another set, then a week later the original order showed up, they told me just to keep em. That was when they had a bunch of those on sale for $25 heh.
For the price, they sound great for cheap Boss knock offs. But unlike a Boss pedal, I would NOT trust these things to hold up under any circumstances in a gigging situation. Keep em at home and don't look at them funny, they should be great.

I had their Bass Driver. It sounded a lot like the real thing, but the buffer was terrible, causing tone-suckage when bypassed.

They seem to hold up pretty well compared to their Boss counterparts (shootout starts at 01:33):

About the multifx you might want, I had one. It's good if you can get it cheap.
Pitch shifter is ok, a little noticable latency. The chorus is all detuned and sounds cool, not anything like a regular chorus pedal. The phaser and flanger aren't very good but have a mix control which makes it passable.
I think there was a delay, which had a mandatory 3 repeats of feedback or so. But still a usable delay.
The pitch shifter and the chorus were my favorites.

The reviewer needs to re-review everything 6 months later. If something inside rattles and the footswitch requires a super stomp, it doesn't matter how much they cop the sound if you're onstage and trying to engage it ten times.Danilo Villanova wrote: Mon Dec 23, 2024 4:52 pm They seem to hold up pretty well compared to their Boss counterparts (shootout starts at 01:33):

Hold up well? I think we've got a long time to go before anyone can claim that. When one of these is still working after 30-40 years of being gigged by an actual working musician, like Boss pedals do, then I'll believe it.Danilo Villanova wrote: Mon Dec 23, 2024 4:52 pm They seem to hold up pretty well compared to their Boss counterparts (shootout starts at 01:33):

The Behringer FX 600 isn't a Boss knock-off. It uses a Coolaudio V1000 multiFX chip, a knock-off of the AL3201 chip that I think was used in the Alesis Picoverb, maybe others.
From what I've read, Behringer's analog pedals are better knock-offs than the digital ones, which isn't surprising. I had the Big Muff knock-off and it didn't even sound like a fuzz, although it was cool in its own way.

Obviously, I meant sound wise, but you already know that...mothra wrote: Thu Dec 26, 2024 4:38 amHold up well? I think we've got a long time to go before anyone can claim that. Nah, they simply cloned the run-of-the-mill Boss stomp-boxes for which the schematics were widely available and which contained parts for like five (or less) bucks and they certainly sounded decent enough in the right hands, plastic casing or not (which - I hate to break it to you - doesn't affect the sound).GhoulofAeons wrote: Mon Dec 16, 2024 7:37 am Back in 2007 the lead guitarist in my band at the time got a Behringer stomp box, a pink/red -ish distortion pedal at his birthday but to be honest we considered it useless to even put in his pedal board (huge pedal collectio

I had one of these any everyone was laughing at first, but then after seeing/hearing me using it, everyone all of a sudden owned one too - same story with the Danelectro Fab Distortion by the way.

Fab Distortion is a DS-1 clone. Regarding Behringer, there are many Chinese clones of the same pedals that cost the same and have metal cases and true bypass.

Just like e.g. the BO-300 is a BD-2 clone.
Not twenty years ago though...Regarding Behringer, there are many Chinese clones of the same pedals that cost the same and have metal cases and true bypass.
