The dpclat.exe is outdated, not good for Windows 10/11 and you should use the LatMon.exe for
five minutes or more at the same time of your audio software/DAW and also when nothing is running.

BTW, for anyone interested, some tweaks for lower DPC latency at

Well I do get intermitted audio glitches, but there is nothing obviously the problem. I have a 5900X even use process lasso to move the soundcard driver to its own core off the main thread.

Make sure the motherboard BIOS is updated and use the latest AMD chipset driver.

I had done many of these tweaks and but this morning I just got around to doing the core specific changes to the lan, USB, Nvidia Graphics and RME audio card. LatencyMon showed a nice improvement. I ran it for a couple of hours . I had one spike at just past 300 micro seconds but it was stable between 35 microseconds and 80 for the duration. No dropouts were triggered. This is a Chinese Frankenstein dual socket X99 board. Previously there were spikes coming from USB likely caused by my old as hell Midex 8 and Midex 3 steinberg midi interfaces on the built in USB ports. This seems to have helped it.

Huh, I've been using pc for audio for a long time and I always set the processor scheduling to background services, because all the guides say that but this is the 1st time I've seen it specified to set it to programs. Is that correct, was the other option a legacy thing for older os's or something. Whats the rationale behind this, I figure background serices mad winows treat multitasking better?

On a standard workstation, if you prioritize the background stuff, you are prioritizing
all the bloatware that is running in the background and not your DAW/audio software.

It makes sense I'll change that then. I guess it wa an old tweak from Win 95 or something and setting it to background maybe prioritsed the audio service or something...
