Incoming newsletter from Zynaptiq:
Dear friends,
We're thrilled to announce PUNCH, our brand new intelligent dynamics contouring plug-in that does exactly what the name implies (and more!), as well as an exciting Early Access program.
Add organic, musical punch and contour to your sounds, tracks, stems or mixes with our mastering-grade, intelligent impact inductor, PUNCH. Built on our expertise in source separation, signal statistics, frequency domain processing, and filter design, PUNCH adds anything from airy snap to beefy long attack compressor overshoot impact to smooth dynamics contouring to your audio easily, quickly, and with zynaptiq quality.
PUNCH works equally well for individual sounds and complex material like mixed music, even if excessive dynamics processing was applied that would leave traditional transient shapers nothing to go on, and applies its processing to all sound components separately with up to more than a hundred bands of exquisitely engineered filtering. Throw in two alternative algorithms, a transparent sounding output clipper, support for up to 16 channels for immersive workflows, and our trademark workflow, and you're all set for punchy, present and transparent sound in seconds!
PUNCH will be available from the Zynaptiq website and authorized resellers worldwide January 15th, 2025.
However, you can start using PUNCH right now, by taking advantage of our Early Access program - save a bunch and make your audio jump out of your speakers ahead of time!

I checked it today on a complete raw mix:
brings out the transients in a very polite way and reduces the ambiences aka body of some instruments - all in all a more transparent and airy mix.
I like it so far and will very likely get it.

I tried it on my reference track first, a very loud busy electro track : it made everything louder, clearer, punchier, just like all is instantly closer, without any distorsion at all. And I don't mean a single dB or two : I mean, really, really louder and closer. I simply had to adjust the release so it fits the body of the track. At first the release was too short and a dirty sweep was hearable.
Then I purchased it.
I tried it then on various kick drums, and got mixed results. Some were closer, some started to distort in the lower frequencies as soon as I tried to process them.
Anyway, I love this thing.

don't think it is a transient shaper as punctuate at all, though it has it influence on them and can be targeted in many presets ...but it could be pushed in a same way to the intensity plugin with very similar parametersDr.Gunjah wrote: Fri Dec 27, 2024 11:14 am Going to download this later. Anyone compared this to Boost (Emphasis mode) or Punctuate?

I assume it's based on a similar engine, but more oriented to transient mangling

It seems to be the opposite of intensity. While the latter fills the holes between transients this emphasizes the transients... imo similar to Boost in punch mode.
I've tried it on a house track but it made the sound harsh. I guess if you are after that aggressive monstercat-like slap-in-da-face sound this tool is for you. I prefer a more softer, rounder sound so not sure yet if I need this.

I’m still wrapping my head around INTENSITY but I grabbed this as a spur of the moment thing too. Sounds incredible, wanna try to incorporate it after a healthy dose of INTENSITY on drums (and vice-versa) just to see what happens.
I’ve been experimenting so much lately with all the capabilities of Omnipressor, Saturn 2, INTENSITY, and now this, that I haven’t been able to make any actual progress on anything

perhaps it emphasizes the transients but i also notice it cutting sustains somehow even in the full mix. try the default preset and crank it to max, and you will hear the sound really pumping and breathing, separating the elements of the mix. it's a harsh sound for sure, but also interesting. of course you would want to dial it back in actual use but im not sure if i could achieve this sound with any other tools i have.Dr.Gunjah wrote: Sat Dec 28, 2024 11:54 am It seems to be the opposite of intensity.
