Users of the Yamaha WX5 - favourite soft synths

I've recently seriously picked up and began playing my Yamaha WX5 I got recently - the holidays gave me some free time to do so - and I've been wondering how people interface these things in the software world. I have a Vl70-m, which sounds fine, but I definitely would like more options for synth like timbres - like T-Square's fabulous EWI sounds

I've tried using the OSTirus software emulation of the Access Virus TI and I think it's where I want my sounds to be - I'm just paralysed by the amount of options that the WX5 presents to me MIDI wise and setup wise. I'm running it through my VL70-m for power and MIDI routing to my computer, but I've no idea how to best set it all up for use in the soft synth world. I'm not sure which settings to change on either the WX5 or the VL70 to give me the best experience. The manuals aren't much help as it seems like there are multiple options that are made redundant either by other settings on the same unit or different settings on the opposite unit.

In one of the fingering modes, pressing a certain note on the WX5 sends the OSTirus's LFOs into madness territory that doesn't stop until the preset has been changed - I think it's probably a MIDI CC message that's doing that but I really don't know where to look to change that (I should probably use one of reaper's JS scripts to filter the MIDI stuff). I'd definitely also like to add articulation options, but I'd like other people's takes on the synths they use that respond well to MIDI breath controller messages.

Sorry to say that most of my WX playing is done on hardware synths or on iOS, so not much help here. Some of the Arturia synths, (SQ80V, DX7V) I've used work easily with them. I liked Plasmonic (and Absynth before it), but that required some work to get it from it's MPE focus to work more closely with a wind controller.

I'm not a WX user, but was an avid user of breath controllers until a few years back. Interested in what others are suggesting here as well.

Maybe completely out of you query's range, but will suggest the u-He freebies, Poldoski, Triple Cheese and Zebralette. Clean, simple and support is stellar. If those work out for you, Zebra 2HZ Legacy could be a great all around for you.

Good point! I tried Zebralette years ago, and it worked great with a wind controller. Good enought that I was able to use it on a recording. Haven't tried Zebralette 3 yet, but it should be similar.
