In addition to the previous post, if you for whatever silly reason you would do this, lol, but, if you select a phrase to follow a track, then on the track that you are following, set THAT one to the one that is following, RC crashes.
In other words, it's a circular follow.

Noticed this.. The master track drag does not adhere to the new composition default bar length.
For example, as a default, I have a new composition start with 12 bars. If you then immediately try and drag the master track chord, it only drags 4 chords.

Hi.
Most of my past use of RC has been standalone.
Now I am having a go at using it as a plugin in a DAW (Cubase, at the moment).
Q. Can I send MIDI from a track in RC to the DAW for further routing out to virtual instruments etc. there?
I do see a 'Plug-in Host' option for the track instrument which seems logically like that would be the choice.
but this yields a long list of destinations that I don't know how to interpret:
etc., and there is no data "magically" appearing in the host channel.

Hi.
RC needs some flexibility around the issue of Count-In.
This may have been brought up in the past, but I don't think it was ever dealt with (please correct me if I'm mistaken about that).
Now that I'm trying to use RC plugin inside of a DAW (Cubase, at the moment) I've run smack-into the problem -
inability to have RC measure numbers and playback aligned with the layout in the DAW.
For example, in Cubase I begin my projects like so:
Observe the two initial bars of count-in are to the left of bar 1. This allows all my 8 bar and 32 bar segments to fall at the numerically correct positions where I want them to be.
I start Cubase from the beginning, it counts 8 clicks (my choice), and then bar 1 starts to play. Perfect. Just what I want.
Now, I want to use RC and have it be aligned the same.
IOW, I want RC to not play during my (chosen) 2-bar count-in, and then to begin playing its bar 1 right along with Cubase's bar 1.
So, RC needs settings to enable that kind of configuration - i.e. 1 or 2 bar count-in, with or without click generation by RC itself, and/or allow RC to be configured with timeline to the left of bar 1 as shown above for Cubase.
Thanks!

Hey Atilla! When you get time, please add two new buttons for transport and hot keys for them.. next bar, previous bar. I suppose they should be placed next to the home and end buttons in the transport area..
Just so you know, what I am doing at the moment is setting up a Stream Deck for editing with RC, so, I may run across other hot key stuff.. So far, works great and it does boost editing for me..

I'm sorry for the late reply. You are right, this stopped working at version 5.0 when phrase resizing was reworked to simplify it.
I have fixed this bug today. You'll find the fix in the new beta version which I am about to upload.
Thanks!
Attila

Thanks for the video! Good catch, BluGenes! Indeed, circular dependency was causing the crashes. (I do not remember when I saw "stack overflow" last time...BluGenes wrote: Tue Dec 31, 2024 1:47 pm In addition to the previous post, if you for whatever silly reason you would do this, lol, but, if you select a phrase to follow a track, then on the track that you are following, set THAT one to the one that is following, RC crashes.

Anyway, from this new beta version circular dependencies won't crash, but please avoid them as they will bring undefined results...
Thanks!

The RC VST3 plug-in support 128 output channels, each 16 channels are sent on a separate VST3 event bus. You need to select the event bus in Cubase beyond channel 16.sj1 wrote: Tue Jan 07, 2025 4:25 pm Now I am having a go at using it as a plugin in a DAW (Cubase, at the moment).
Q. Can I send MIDI from a track in RC to the DAW for further routing out to virtual instruments etc. there?
I found an old screenshot I made for Cubase which shows how to route the 128th channel to a virtual instrument channel in Cubase. Note: I do not often use Cubase, so I am not sure if it still happens this way. If I remember well, you also needed to set up a channel filter for the track, to receive exactly one channel...

there is already a keyboard shortcut for this:

You can make it 'global' as I did, so Shift+left/right will work from everywhere.
Thanks,

RapidComposer v5.5b3 is available!
This update features the new "rhythm track". Any dropped pattern is repeated until a next pattern (or rest) is found. The rhythm track is to be used together with the "Follow Track" rhythm generator and the "Rhythm Mapper From Track" variation.
Should we rename "Rhythm Mapper From Track" to something simpler, e.g. "Follow Track" or "Follow Track Rhythm"?
Improvements:

Improvements:
- New track type: 'Rhythm track'.
- Conversion between rhythm and MIDI tracks added to the track inspector menu
- Improved UI rendering for 'Rest'
- Fixed issues when "Rhythm Mapper From Track" was added to a track
- Circular dependencies (for "Follow track" and "Rhythm Mapper From Track") do not crash anymore, but please avoid them
- Fixed a small bug with phrase lengths in the Idea Tool when specifying length with custom phrase order
- Several important stability improvements

Yup! Thanks! But a clickable button in the transport area was the idea.. Just point that button to that hot key.. hehe, easy ..musicdevelopments wrote: Mon Jan 13, 2025 3:26 pmHi BluGenes,BluGenes wrote: Fri Jan 10, 2025 6:16 pm Hey Atilla!
