i've had a lot of trouble connecting to xils-lab.com
they're blocking a lot of VPN IPs, and obviously there's a few other issues there.
i've played email tennis for a while but most often i just can't connect at all.
surely they must be missing out on a lot of sales.

Xils V+ was the most difficult thing to purchase I've ever run into. I tried to buy it directly from their website and it was a dead end, I can't remember why now, it just wouldn't work. They sell through Sweetwater where I already had an account so I figured that would be pretty easy, not so much. After I bought it on Sweetwater, I got an email from Sweetwater with a code, and then I think I had to create an account on Plugivery or something, and maybe enter the Sweetwater code and then Plugivery sent me an email with a different code I think, and then at some point I had to create an account with Xils and enter the Plugivery code, and then somehow I got an actual iLok serial number. I don't even remember it all, but it was something like that. Absolute mess, couldn't believe it finally worked. That said, V+ is amazing, nails that analog string sizzle.

My internet provider is Breezeline in the US and I have to use a VPN set to a European country or Canada to access. I think it's been like this for almost a year.Lbdunequest wrote: Tue Dec 31, 2024 11:42 am i wonder if im alone with this problem, for years i cannot access their website, always writes timed out. I had a very similar experience (Pluglivery, etc.), except it was when I bought BFD3 a few days ago. I bought it through Sweetwater.hey212 wrote: Tue Dec 31, 2024 11:22 pm Xils V+ was the most difficult thing to purchase I've ever run into. i always go for sound first ease of use second, so i guess dsp design is key for me.
Mac mini m4 pro, Reaper, too many plugins, Modal Argon8, Novation Circuit Mono Station and now a lovely Waldorf Blofeld.

A number of people have been assuming that oversampling is the only way to prevent aliasing. It's not. Anti-derivative anti-aliasing (ADAA) is a new approach that has been getting a lot of research in recent years. It's more efficient than oversampling, and I wouldn't be surprised if we are starting to see its adoption in VA synth design.
For example: https://dafx2020.mdw.ac.at/proceedings/ ... per_35.pdf
But I don't imagine Xils is going to reveal their special sauce. We'll find out soon enough if whatever they are doing is effective.

If I don't enjoy the experience of using a synth because of bad UX design choices [by that I mean, those that don't "click with me" - this things are subjective after all], then I'm just not going to use the product. See Softube Modular as an example.
There are too many products out there that simply do a great job with both the User Experience and the sound quality, to put up with those that fall far short on either.

indeed. Like i said when it's unusable. UI is so small on a 4k monitor.
It's impossible to read anything.
Same issue with Reaktor, FM8

I never understand why people set their resolutions to native 4K, where everything becomes pretty tiny, then start scaling their system/all their software up individually to make it useable, and then find there are software that doesn't scale well or at all making it unusable, when they could just set a resolution less high, have the same size monitor, don't have to scale anything, and the things that don't scale are also at a perfectly useable size.Gam456 wrote: Thu Jan 02, 2025 3:23 pm Like i said when it's unusable. I run a 4K 27" inch monitor, but I'm generally running at 2560x1440, and everything is roughly at the size I need it without having to scale anything...
Maybe running at a less than native resolution on Windows looks bad, or something?
