Some artists do better covers themselves than than the cover which topped the charts.
You've heard this chart buster: Natalie Imbruglia - Torn. I've always quite liked it.
But the original 'Torn' is by Ednaswap:

Ive always preferred 'The Clash At Demonhead' version of Black Sheep (even though it was still actually Metric) Bree/Envy just sang/strutted it better. Oh yeah.
An idiot on Set Theory:
"In some cases there is an object called red that contains everything that is red. In much the same way a pot is a plate."

Another one where I'm not sure if it's superior, but it's bloody brilliant all the same
Joan Baez - Silver Dagger
St Etienne - Like a Motorway
And it's a bit of a difficult choice between these versions:

The Cure - Lovesong is brilliant:
Death Cab For Cutie's cover plays it pretty straight:
Then Jack Off Jill brings some Riot Grrrrl sensibilites to it:
Snake River Conspiracy's cover is even better:

This was the first song with lyrics I ever heard Tiesto remix. Still think it's brilliant.
