I’m looking for an audio/MIDI interface to replace my iRig Pro Duo that also provides power to the iPad. Does any one have experience with one that they recommend?

You are either looking for the original Apple Lightning USB3-Camera adapter or an iConnectivity Audio4c.
The 4c is the only USB-Interface left that powers the iPad, outside of the IKM stuff.

Really, just get the Apple Adapter and any USB-class-compliant-interface of your liking and save yourself from a ton of headaches. :)

+1 on the USB3-camera adapter, which allows to connect one usb device and the iPad charger at the same time.

This adapter is a good solution not just because it widens your choices when it comes to choosing any device, but also because you can connect a usb hub and attach multiple devices at the same time (for example, a midi interface and an audio interface).

I rarely use my iPad, but I have that adapter to connect at the same time (through a hub) an old class compliant audio interface and a midi interface to my iPad.

USB-3 camera adapter is a must for audio connectivity.

I'm using a Windows PC and a UAD Apollo FireWire interface. Would that work for my setup? I currently have an IK Pro Duo, which works fine but no power. I didn't think of the camera adapter because it seemed impossible to have two audio interfaces going on a Windows machine, though I guess I do have Elektron synths that work.

Since the IK Pro Duo also connects to a Mac/ PC via their propriarity-adapter as a USB-compliant device, I don't see why this should not work for the iPad with the Apple USB3-Adpter, too.

But it can be that you still may need the 9V-DC power /batteries for the IK Pro Duo. You need to try.

PS: I checked some specs on the IKM page and it seem their devices cannot power the iPad (anymore). I remember some older IKM stuff that could but that's a long time ago, Like the iRig MIDI 30 pin (which I have). So I was very likely wrong about the IKM power-abilities. At least the manual says nothing about powering the iPad.

I can't speak for all of them, but the Pro Duo definitely does not power the iPad.

I’ve used a variety of interfaces with my iPad, apogee duet and Scarlett 4i4 (3rd gen) successfully with the USB 3 camera adapter - probably the easiest and most flexible option (free to change / upgrade interface in the future)

Wait. You’re using the interface and the camera adapter together? Maybe I don’t understand what you’re talking about.

the interface goes into the camera adapter's USB-port which goes into the iPad's Lightning-Port. And there's another Lightning connector on the adapter which is for powering the iPad and the connected USB-device (up to 500 mA IIRC).

Oh, I see. That makes sense to me now. Thank you for the information.

The camera connection kit does work well with the IPAD and can keep it charged while you run a USB Hub (I use a powered hub) to your interface and controller. I have used several audio interfaces but most recently the Steinberg UR22 MK2 and UR44.

you can try audiohub from focusrite 2013 i think with ipad camera coenction kit works well too
