What’s up with XV-5080? The cpu spikes are out of control on my M1 Mac. Nothing like the other plugins.

I thought they addressed that spike issue already, but I guess not.
I have a PC so I don't have a way to test it out here.

Nope, freshly installed here on Mac. Not super useable. That's a shame as it's one of my lifetime keys.Examigan wrote: Sat Jan 04, 2025 6:05 pm I thought they addressed that spike issue already, but I guess not.

Jan at Roland, is this going to be fixed? i remember someone bringing it up a year or two ago, or longer.

I don't think they can fix it, or are willing to spend the resources on itEchoes in the Attic wrote: Sat Jan 04, 2025 6:12 pmNope, freshly installed here on Mac. Not super useable. As Jon has stated the "focus" is now on creating new instruments
My best guess is they are going to just give the XV5080 and the JV1080 the Sound Canvas treatment and just kill it

I have reported it in November 2023 and they had said that a fix was coming soon, so sit tightEchoes in the Attic wrote: Sat Jan 04, 2025 3:37 pm What’s up with XV-5080? The cpu spikes are out of control on my M1 Mac. Nothing like the other plugins.
I have canceled my sub early 2024 when it was obvious that no fix was coming.

Korg has its issues too. Like charging their users $100 to upgrade the Gadget plugins from V2 to V3. $50 less than new users, despite only adding 2 new gadgets! It's somewhat shameful pricing on their part.Examigan wrote: Fri Jan 03, 2025 10:41 pmThey could really learn a thing or two (or 3 or 4) from Korg
I’m also not a fan of punitive upgrade pricing, where you’re charged more to upgrade from older versions. Better than Roland Cloud? Sure. But is that the measure you'd want compared against?
Yeah, it's nice that they didn't try to "do a Roland" by charing users for every additional EXB expansion. But the Triton is also missing a bunch of features (MOSS, Sampler, RPPR key patterns without which EXB-03 won’t work as intended). Some of that is understandable to a degree. What isn't is the lack of ability to import hardware presets. Meaning users miss out on tons of 3rd party sounds, plus additional presets which were made for their expansions.

It not being fixed points to one of two things. Either they're 1) Prepared to ignore a serious issue for over a year, whilst they work on new things, or 2) They consider the JX/XV/SRX as end of life, and something they're not prepared to put more than absolutely minimal work into.
The longer time goes on, the more it starts looking like the later of those two.

Why should an upgrade from V2 of Gadget to V3 be free?PAK wrote: Sun Jan 05, 2025 8:11 amKorg has its issues too. But V3 is more than just two instruments, the upgrade meant that the 40 Gadgets or instruments are now both VST3 and (in most cases) AUv3 compatible, you get a bunch of new effects, enhancements to the sequencer, and gotta say the new Sidney Sampler is really nice and come with a bunch of sample content
It's a solid upgrade for $100
As for the Triton plugin, it's the Rompler engine with all the sample content in one place included. That's what I use it for, there is no RCM and no need to phone home
If I want MOSS I will use the Prophecy plugin
Since I use a DAW for sequencing and other workstation tasks, it's really not an issue that the workstation and sequencing tools including RPPR are not included
While importing samples to include along side the Triton samples would be great, I have so many other awesome plugins that load samples it's just as easy to sample to Triton samples and load them into something else
Quite frankly it's 2025, I am not looking to relive the late 1990s Rompler workstation experience of the Triton hardware or the XV5080 hardware for that matter
What I am looking for is the PCM/Sample content from these old machines, in a system where they are all together in one place, all in a single plugin that I have confidence will actually work without any headaches without a need to phone home every month. Korg gives me that with the Triton and the M1 plugins. It's essentially a sample library for me
My favorite thing to do as of late is to use a plugin like the Triton and use the samples to make a cool sound. Record a 15-20 second long clip of it and then load that into either Dawesome Myth, or the Spectral Synth engine in HALion7
Would love to be able to do that with the XV5080 and Sound Canvas plugins but Roland Cloud has made that all but impossible for me

I don’t know? Why should it? You’re responding to a question which wasn’t posed by anyone but yourself. If it helps you argue, against yourself, V3 was a free upgrade on iOS.
They’re charing new users $150 for 45 Gadget plugins, and existing users $100 for 2 plugins. If you want to provide arguments, for why that’s remotely acceptable, enjoy arguing with yourself again. For me, that is not an acceptable price policy. It's a solid upgrade for $100
It's far better than RCM, but it's still challenge response based on hardware ID's. If any of those hardware elements change, like a network cards identifier, it will "phone home" to reactivate, and may require support intervention in some cases.there is no RCM and no need to phone home

You can save the Korg activation folder for later use after you have done offline activation for the Korg plugins.
That is how i do it and i have used the single installers of my products and pasted the Korg folder into the correct place on various Intel platforms and AMD over the years without any issues or the need for re-activating the plugins.
If you use their online Activation and download app the plugins can be a tad sensitive to changes but the offline method i use always works no matter what i change on my system.

I’d expect offline to be machine specific too, with the challenge code being based on your hardware profile.D-Fusion wrote: Sun Jan 05, 2025 9:49 pm You can save the Korg activation folder for later use after you have done offline activation for the Korg plugins.

What you’re describing doesn’t quite make sense, unless certain elements (like drives or a network card) remained consistent across those configs. Just logging into the download app is also enough to auto activate stuff, at least until you go past a machine limit Korg doesn't like (iirc 5 machines). But, kudos to them if they've found some other way to be more user friendly with activations

Awesome outside of your personal opinion on the matter explain why that's not an acceptable price policy?PAK wrote: Sun Jan 05, 2025 9:26 pmI don’t know? Why should it? Switching pc platforms between intel and amd and HDD to SSD and now m.2 drives are pretty drastic changes and they all have different Network chips too and my method just work.PAK wrote: Sun Jan 05, 2025 10:15 pmI’d expect offline to be machine specific too, with the challenge code being based on your hardware profile.D-Fusion wrote: Sun Jan 05, 2025 9:49 pm You can save the Korg activation folder for later use after you have done offline activation for the Korg plugins.

I have also been going thru different internet types too since i only had Mobile internet when i moved to where i live now with 4g and then 5g.
Then i got the older Copper line internet for a few years and finally got Fiber a year ago so there have been lots of different Mac and IP address Changes over the years too.
Not sure why or how it works but I won't complain as long as my method works
Their old system was extremely Flimsy and gave me lots of annoying issues.

Hey Echoes! We've actually made some progress in this area. No word on an official release date for the fix but I'll definitely notify you when I hear more. Looking forward to this being resolved. Appreciate everyones patience, it turned out to be a more complex issue than anticipated.Echoes in the Attic wrote: Sat Jan 04, 2025 3:37 pm What’s up with XV-5080?
