i have a suggestion to make. can we change the entire platform from SoundCloud to https://whyp.it/ ?
to get unlimited uploads, u have to have Artist Pro which costs 10 bucks a month but on Whyp
the free version has unlimited uploads. 10 bucks doesn't seem much but that's 600 dollars if u use SoundCloud for 5 years. using Whyp for 5 years can save 600 bucks! or maybe instead of changing how about adding? using both platforms.
what do u guys think?

Are these free uploads of unlimited size? (Can it be a wav file 10 minutes long?) Or is it just mp3s? Says something about 8 minutes..3lu5iv3 wrote: Sun Jan 05, 2025 9:58 am i have a suggestion to make. can we change the entire platform from SoundCloud to https://whyp.it/ ?

First off, changing platforms may not be very simple. There obviously will be work involved from either or both our esteemed organisers, to update the voting system to accommodate the whyp embedded players. Quite possibly a lot of work ? In which case it would not be very reasonable to ask for the proposed change, imho. Maybe Richard or Brian could be so kind as to shed some light on that side of things ? I would happily offer to help, but have no web programming skills whatsoever, unfortunately.3lu5iv3 wrote: Sun Jan 05, 2025 9:58 am i have a suggestion to make. can we change the entire platform from SoundCloud to https://whyp.it/ ?

That said, apart from the obvious cost factor, I do like the fact that this platform provides more control over, and insight into, the fate of one´s uploads. SC must have just about the poorest ´standard´ streaming quality available these days. I could live with an eight minute limit as well, though others may balk at it for perfectly good reasons. Advertising may be a factor to consider, too. Is this platform any better that SC in that regard ? Or worse ? Wouldn't want to get OSC listeners any more annoyed with that than they are already.
Btw, If you have any tracks on whyp, it may be a good idea to at least try an embedded player here on KVR, to show that it works as advertised.
It says that all common file formats can be uploaded, to be converted to 320kbps mp3. Apart from anything in the latter format, which will be left unchanged. For free accounts, it is clearly stated that any upload is limited to 8min or 25MB. No ifs or buts.empphryio wrote: Sun Jan 05, 2025 1:26 pm Are these free uploads of unlimited size? Test of whyp
<iframe src="https://whyp.it/tracks/embed?id=242074" width="100%" height="200" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" ></iframe>
Can't get it to embed. Maybe the iframe isn't allowed?
More interesting is this info about downloads:
"Download links are only valid for a short period of time and therefore should not be linked to externally."

A suggestion for a amazing and very fresh synth to feature in the OSC: Six Sines by baconpaul
viewtopic.php?t=617832
(but maybe ask baconpaul first because maybe he wants to put out a version 1.1 first)

Suggestion: Rippler X - A physical modeling synth. Super fun to use.
