I made a card game for the music studio called 'Flipspark'. Wanting to share with the community.

Hey Team,
A couple years ago I shared a passion project here of a card game for the music studio called 'Flipspark'. After getting a few life events out of the way, I have finally launched it!
I made Flipspark for myself as a creative tool to break out of writers block and force me to get more experimental with all the tools and techniques I have in my studio. I was basically in a rut just doing the same thing over and over and getting nowhere, but I knew I had more than enough gear and just had to combine it in the right way to find my sound.
The basic idea with Flipspark is that by drawing cards from the each 'suit' of Elements, Instruments, Patterns, and Effects, you can come up with wild and creative prompts that push your creative boundaries. You can use it for inspiration, to learn a few new methods if you are new to music making, or make a game of it with a friend in the studio.
Im hoping it might be something the community is interested in. I've put a couple videos up on YouTube talking about it, and you can check it out on the website.
Thanks all, and keen to hear what you think of it here as well!

Indeed it does. www.flipspark.com
@tim_flipspark - Do you reckon an app might be an alternative option?
Also, you misspelled Tremolo.

The page link is broken because the URL behind the displayed text does not match:

That URL gets formed by the forum software because he forgot to put "https://" in front of it (you can see it when you quote his post).FranklyFlawless wrote: Mon Jan 06, 2025 11:11 am The page link is broken because the URL behind the displayed text does not match:Code: Select all

About the actual cards: it is a fun idea, but easily replicated with a free random-lists app on your phone. It has the added benefit that you can name stuff exactly (like specific plugin names). I'm using this approach for a few years now. For basic idea-triggers I use an oblique-strategies app
CrimsonWarlock aka TechnoGremlin, Moved to Reason and Rack Extensions exclusively (from Reaper and VSTs) several years ago.

Neat little prompt deck, especially with the split halves for drums. I like the card design. But as a tabletop game enthusiast, I'm wondering: where is the actual gameplay? Seems like the experience is mostly self-directed (i.e. draw some cards and then make some music). So "card game" seems like a bit of a misnomer.

One of the first things he says in the video is that it’s more of a creative tool than a game.funky lime wrote: Mon Jan 06, 2025 3:23 pm Neat little prompt deck, especially with the split halves for drums. Yeah an app comes up a lot, and is some I did explore. Trouble is, it would cost a fair bit to have made so for now I'm just trying a digital download to see what people think. If anybody here knows somebody who can whip an app up and split the difference, get them to reach out!

It's not a perfect world for many app developers. A simple app though might be less of a hassle. I have no idea really. You could try posting at forum.loopypro.com. Lot's of music related app discussion there, including developer presence. Also a potential target for your current product. Best of luck neighbor.tim_flipspark wrote: Mon Jan 06, 2025 8:55 pmHa yes ive been made aware of the typo. Will be updating the files this weekend.
