Description

Phantom Edge upgrades your Pigments synthesizer with sounds from the far dystopian future. The focus of this set is dark and cinematic - expect wide dystopian pads, rhythmic pulses, sharp basslines, ambient plucks, choirs and more.

While Phantom Edge focuses on heavy distortion and an edgy sound character, it also provides a well-rounded palette of tools for customization. Almost every patch has 2-4 macros for tasteful adjustments; you can easily dial in reverb, filters or effects. The pulses are designed to allow easy editing of the rhythm to your taste through the 'Function' section.

Whether you want to produce heavy electronic Cyberpunk music or write a more cinematic score, this set offers enough flexibility to get you covered.

What are you waiting for, choom? The future needs you.

You certainly captured the sound of the genre very well. Your patches have that warm, analog-sounding goodness which some say is missing in Pigments.

You also give attention to the edgy, digital sounds often found in Cyberpunk music. I think that creates a nice sense of duality between the two. Cool sounds! :tu:

Thank you, and well observed! I originally wanted to theme the entire set on harsh/distorted sounds, but figured halfway through that it would become a bit colorless if all patches were like that. So I rethought the concept and designed contrasting patches for the other half to make the set much more versatile, while still moving strongly within the thematic framework of a dark and gritty sound character.

And yes, Pigments is indeed a bit 'cold' by nature, which is partially due to the oscillators that come with less depth out of the box, compared to other synths. This makes it a bit challenging to get distorted sounds and such with a heavy low end going. I spent many months working on this set, and had to go through several cycles of refining and reworking many patches, in order to carve out the final sound character bit by bit. I'm very happy with the set, it's probably my best work to date.

I wish you all lots of fun with it! :)

Nice sounds, but why did you stop at just 30 patches?

Thank you! :)

30 patches are a lot of new instruments to play with, and I find it's a great size for a set. I mainly create sets of 30 patches so people can combine them as they like, rather than having to buy larger and more expensive sets. It also works better from a creative perspective, as it allows me to spend more time on each individual patch in order to craft more exciting and versatile instruments.

In terms of variety, you could write an entire album with any of the sets alone, and Phantom Edge includes many macros, which allow you to use the patches in different and creatively new ways.
