Please help me find that blue synth of my dreams (well... litterally...)

Hi all,

I have this dream (really) that keeps on repeating. I’m in a synth shop, playing with several synths I don’t know, and I always end up with that blue synth that I find absolutely amazing. It has a few notable characteristics in the dream context : it’s from a relatively obscure brand for me (not Roland -not a JP8000-, not Korg, not Yamaha -not a CS-1x-, not EMU, not Kurzweil, not Alesis...), and it’s full of tweakable buttons everywhere. The thing is I’m not familiar at all with this machine in the dream, never heard of it before.

Well, it’s just a dream, and it means strictly nothing at all, but now I keep on thinking... what if ?... :D

What if that blue synth from my dreams was the perfect one for me ?

So far, the only one I’ve found that matches the description is this one, the Novation Supernova II. And it seems absolutely awesome btw.

Do you please know any others that have a vaguely similar look and do not belong to a hugely famous brand if I’ve missed some, so I can maybe make my dream come true ?

Maybe I should add that I’m not a 80’s lover, I was born in 82 and loved the 90’s music way more, so anything Virus-like fits my tastes instantly.

Thanks for your input, dreamers. :tu:

Most of those listed above are MPE hardware synthesizers. What would help isolate this "dream synthesizer" is form factor (desktop, keyboard, module, rack, or other) and supported synthesizer engine(s).

Thanks a lot. The Groove Synthesis 3rd Wave is so close to what I’ve dreamt of... could be the one... :D

I’ll watch a few videos.

Great suggestions :)
The Ultranova is not as bad even if it doesn't have a 1 knob per function since it is pretty well layed out with buttons to get to the different parts of the synth + it has built in Audio interface if that is needed.
The Mininova need it's vst editor badly since they took the layout limitations a step to far with that one.

Indeed I need to give a listen to the Ultranova, it also fits the bill. Thanks !

I think we need to dig deeper here and find out what that blue synth represents...
Freud would say that you are sexually repressed and that blue synth represents the transfer of your longing into an object. You need to get out and meet someone, perhaps with blue hair...
Just a thought, but I feel it is very unlikely you are dreaming of a real music synthesizer.
I wanted a Novation Ultranova years ago, but it was only after being in a music store and not at night in my dreams.
In truth, no dream means nothing at all.

Maybe it wasn't a dream, but an "acid" trip?

Mmm... I think I still have more chances to find a nice sounding blue synth than meet a blue haired girl... :scared:
