Thank you! I have found the same suggestion regarding the soundbank paths on the IK forum, made sure my soundbank folder is listed only once (and nothing else), but it didn't help.

I might check however if the VST2 version works, could be a temporary workaround.

Nope, VST2 crashes too. Sorry for the moaning, I'll update if/when I get some help from support.

Once installed can you go back in and weed out the unnecessary filler. There are some decent sounds here but going through everything to find the few decent sounds is laborious. That and all the wasted disk space.

I didn’t install much of Syntronik as it wasn’t really my favorite part of the collection. I did install all the basic stuff with v4, plus the drum sets (e.g. Bozzio and Peart) and other stuff like Sampletron, Orchestral Percussion, Miroslav, and various pianos.

I got a response from their support yesterday, didn't really learn anything new, just reinstalled the whole shebang a few times, but still crashing every host I have (Reaper, Bitwig, FL, Reason).

Maybe one thing, which might be useful for someone else: when I specified a custom soundset folder in the IK product manager app, it installed all the soundsets in the very same folder, which is not the right way, they should be installed in separate SampleTank 3 and SampleTank 4 folders. When I installed to the default location (Users\Public\Documents\IK..), then the manager app did create those separate folders. Although when I looked into the folders, I have seen SampleTank 4 folders inside the SampleTank 3\Samples folder, so at that point I gave up. And it still crashed.

I cannot sell it for 90 days, but if I don't forget, I'm willing to sell the whole package for 20 EUR, I guess that's the required license fee, hope not per plugin. (SampleTank 4 MAX v2, Amplitube 5 MAX, TONEX MAX).

That somehow is called IKM Product Manager and it's a bugfest. I'm a software developer, I know when I see buggy behavior. I'm playing by the rules, trying to install everything with the default settings, and it messes it up every single time.

I'm running the 4th installation today again, it's almost done and I'm seeing a folder structure like this:

Users\Public\Documents\IK Multimedia\SampleTank 3\Samples\SampleTank 4

My plugins are on the secondary internal drive (D:) but I have all my IK Sampletank 4 items (instrument files and sample files, etc.) in a folder called Sampletank Stuff on a 3rd internal drive:
E:/Sampletank Stuff

All the regular ST4 stuff plus Miroslav 2, Sampletron 2 and many others are all there.

My gut feeling is that none of the crashes are related to the file/folder locations. ST4 does see the patches and samples, I can play them, but sometimes it crashes when switching between them. My go to test now is to mark a few patches as favorites, filter by them and just switch between them a couple of times. Crashes reliably all the time. Tested my RAMs and SSD, they are all fine, and none of my other samplers crash ever (Halion, Kontakt, Falcon, Reason NNXT). It crashed in standalone too and in every daw I have.

Okay, so as my last attempt I uninstalled everything but also went through the Windows registry and deleted every single IK Multimedia, SampleTank and Product Manager entries I could find. Reinstalled the vst plugin and the sounds to the default locations and after an hour of testing no crashes so far. I'm still a little skeptical, but hope that was it.

I'm glad it was useful! I guess most of the users either install it to the default location or install there, but move the whole folder where it continues to work.

I have been ghosted mid-response efforts by support.

IK doesn't even acknowledge receipt of a support request now?

They responded to me like 3 or 4 weeks later??! I gave ALL INFO that was asked for (in 3 responses), then got no replies since January 16th.

I even responded to them, that the issue IS NOT YET RESOLVED! TWICE.

Also, MP2 is now crashing to desktop recently, so I resorted to the cleanest uninstall/removal I could do. Still trying to psyche myself up for another round of screwing up my brand new W11 Pro CLEAN install again.

Why they haven't fixed the notoriously over complicated & outdated installation procedures and issues by 2026 yet, I have no idea. Yet these older products are STILL
on sale without fixes or updates?!

My issues had been with one of the "multis" originally, and more specifically, inside of Sampletank 4.

Hey IK, how about a folder map and/or diagram of file structures - for use with Pianoverse, Sampletank 4, Sampletank 3 instruments, Syntronik 1, Syntronik 2, and Miroslav Philharmonik 2?

And show it with ALL CONTENT on a secondary drive. NOT the PRIMARY/OS drive. Windows AND Mac.

Good to see that the issue I had initially had created a support ticket for, is DOCUMENTED above as an IK MULTIMEDIA KNOWN AND NEVER FIXED ISSUE.

Does it really have to be that support couldn't just TELL ME they aren't ever going to fix it?
